RoyPardo Mon, March 15th, 2004, 12:12 AM OK i've read a lot of your diets and stuff but no one seems to mention cereals like special k or stuff like that? whats your opinion on using cerials in cutting diets?
Also fruits ? whats your opinion on that'
taffer Mon, March 15th, 2004, 01:59 AM most cerials have a high GI and sugar content
i think special K has a GI of about 70 or so and its packed with sugar
you really have to go back to basics for breakfast, the rest is generally crap

It depends on what fruits we are talking about...Apples, pears and oranges are good to eat...
Regards!
fluke Mon, March 15th, 2004, 02:49 AM If you check his diet logs, you'll see John eats almost no fruit. If you are trying to lose weight, the sugars in fruit will not help. Sure, they're nutritious, but so are vegies, which are relativly low in sugars.
We've got to take some pleasure in what we eat or the diet becomes intollerable, but if you have a fat loss goal, minimize fruit untill you reach it.
As for cereal, theres a number of things to look for. Cereal can be an excellent way to get fiber and minerals if you pick the right box.

"Will an apple a day keep the doctor away? Well, maybe. But hopefully, I've convinced you that fruit and the fructose that it contains aren't quite as evil as some make them out to be. So, the next time your "Eve" offers you an apple, take it, and eat up!"

Jimbo Mon, March 15th, 2004, 03:19 PM Apples and Bananas have been a significant part of my diet for weight loss. They help me get a little sweetness in the diet, without grabbing candy bars.

last time i checked all bran had 10g of sugar per serve, maybe this "high fiber" product is different, or they just dump loads of sugar in it only in australia (i must say we are suckers for anything with the word "healthy" on it)
still kelloggs are evil, promoting alot of their food as a health food when its not, even if one of their products was good, i wouldnt buy it cos they aer so evil
