Hey guys,

Some of you may know me, anyways I have been working out seriously for about 3 months. Never have I had any problems with pain or anything other then maybe being a little sore after a good workout. Lately I have been having huge problems with pain to the point where after 9 reps of a heavy set I had to leave the gym today. Heres the problems, I went to the gym Thursday and I started to do my normal sets for my arms. Once I got to the end of my reps close to failure and breathing hard the back of my neck and like into the back of my head started to throb SO bad. It was like an instant migrane only it was targeted towards the back of my neck and lower head. I took about 10 minutes to let the throbbing and pain stop and went back to my workout with basically a pretty bad headache.

Today (Sunday) I went to work out after not working out Friday or Saturday. I started doing 50lb reps of some shoulder machine I use, 50 lbs is really light for me I was just warming up. I swapped over to 115 to do my 10 reps and by rep 6-7 my head started to throb again and hurt so bad. I had to stop and I took 20 minutes to try and recover. Finially after 20 minutes of sitting with my head in my hands becuase it hurt so bad the pain was minimal. So I decided to go back to a machine and try again, not this time, it started to throb and hurt so bad again. Even right now 15 minutes after my attempted workout my head hurts a little, not to bad but doesnt feel good. So basically I am really aggravated because this is restraining me from working out because it hurts extremely bad. I have no clue what I could have done, I didn't hurt it because I was moving it around and pulled a muscle or anything I don't believe. Like today I had my head rested up against the machine pad not moving while I was doing my reps when it started to hurt reallllllllllllllllllly bad.

Does anyone have any clue on this subject, I know some of you may recommend a doctor but that will be about a month till I can see one.

Thank you

Once the residual pain is gone, can you do neck rotations? Roll your head around your neck in full ROM without pain clock-wise and counter-clock-wise?

Yea I can move my head fine, its not like a pulled muscle or anything its just like extreme pain, think of a reallly bad headache.

Weird. Are you breathing correctly throughout the exercise? In on the negative and out on the positive portion of each lift? Are you accidently clenching your jaw?

You might search for "exertion headache" on the board and see if any the tips given in those threads help you. That's just a guess of what it might be, however.

Are you taking any workout supplements?

Does sound something like an exertion headache... I am taking Nitronx and Redline from VPX. Redline I just started taking and I think that MIGHT be causing it. Nitronx I have been taking for over a month and never had any problems.

I plan on calling VPX today and asking about side effects.

Yeah watch thermogenics....

Redline Contents:
Caffeine Citrate
Caffeine Anhydrous
EvoburnTM (Pure Evodiamine)
N-acetyl-tyrosine
Yerbe Mate
Green Tea
5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan
CAMP (adenosine cyclic 3',5'-monophosphate)
Vinpocetine
Yohimbine HCL

Could be a bad interaction between the two products....OR....

Probably a high Caffeine content (and the source of your headaches....I betchya....actually, all that caffeine and you're wondering where your headache is coming from? Do you drink coffee and caffeinated beverages in a day on top of this?)....dump it for 2 weeks and see if the headache goes away. Drink lots of water so you don't dehydrate while on products like these and if going off of it, drink lots of water to flush the caffeine out of the pipes.

Lastly....really (and it's my opinion), dump the thermogenics all together , get a solid cardio routine and clean nutrition. You CAN get it done without these products. Really, you can.

Keep the Nitronix for your PWO nutrition (if you want) but really, if you have a lot of fat to lose, I wouldn't bother with this product just yet as your insulin sensitivity is likely shot right now for you to benefit from something like this.

I'd say save your cash and buy a few extra warehouse packs of turkey breast or chicken, or use the extra cash to treat yourself to the movies or something (pay a cellphone bill, gas money....etc... ;) )

again , just my 0.02

Thanks for the replys.

Gordo, I called VPX and they said redline could be the cause of it, yesterday that was all i took before my workout so I doubt it is a conflict of 2 supplements. I am going to try to workout again today without taking anything and hope it doesnt bother me. My head hurts a little right now though so it may need sometime to heal whatever happened.

I might drink a soda a week usually its water or Fruit2o. This weekend I did consume a few caffienated drinks because I was on the road and in hotels so sticking to a diet is harder. I have a pretty good diet I think as good as it will get for a college student. I don't plan on dropping the Nitronx because I have gained quite a bit of weight and I think that helps and it is muscle.

Hopefully the redline was the problem, he told me to try lesser of a serving but I am just going to not use it at all and see if it doesn't hurt anymore.

I will keep you guys updated! Thanks!
