I just clicked on the link to Allthewhey.com from John's main page, and I'm a bit confused. I went through a protein craze about a year ago, with bars, but they all had a TON of carbs in them, and were $3 a pop. Now I'm seeing 2lbs of whey for $14. What should I buy. I'm just starting my cutting stage....is there something recommended for that stage? How much should I be taking a day?

It depends on how much $$$ you got, yet I would recomened taking 2.5 serving size p.d.

you take 1 serving size in the morning with skim milk, and you take 1.5 in your post-workout meal with water. (assuming each serving size contains 23 gr of proteins -ON 100% for example.)

It's mostly important you take it as your post-workout meal,
you can spare it in the morning and eat something else.

ON 100% whey has like 1gr of sugar/1.5gr of fat for each serving. (espciailly good for cutting)

as for "sugar bars"
You can try EAS Advantage Carb Control , I've heard they're pretty good too and they're espicially low on carb (something like 3gr )

Good Luck in your cutting ! :tucool:

Well, I don't relish the thought of eating solid foods in the morning (they make me queasy), so what I do is toss a cup or so of oatmeal, a banana, yogurt, and some skim milk into the blender, and make something of a low GI carb smoothie. I love em, but the yogurt is adding a ton of carbs and sugars. Should I just go the banana/oatmeal/skim milk route, and throw a serving of flavored protein powder in there as well? (The yogurt has been more for the taste than anything.)

This is also the only way I can stomach cottage cheese. The taste is something I dont like, but I can stand...the texture just disgusts me. So I ended up blending some in with yogurt and oatmeal. I know before bed, carbs (oatmeal) are the LAST things I need to be eating. Can I throw some skim milk, protein powder, cottage cheese, and something to thicken it up a bit into the blender an hour or 2 before bed? Thanks

whey is quick and convenient but you could replace the whey with whole foods protein choices. if you make sure you have a constant source of protein every few hours, then you don't "need" whey in post workout either but whey has an advantage in that it digests fast and will hit your muscles more quickly, but this becomes less of an issue if you have a constant feed of protein before you workout and throughout the day.for your yogurt, have you tried dannon carb control? it has 3g net carbs, or get the no sugar added plain yogurt instead of the fruity, sugary ones. if you don't like cottage cheese, why make yourself eat it? there are other choices of protein. you could just use water or milk, protein powder, and peanut butter to thicken it up. casesin powder is available too.
