Adam_S Sun, March 14th, 2004, 04:03 AM What do you think of corn?
Umm, it's one helluva fabulous energy source. Probably too much energy if you eat one cup and are trying to cut. But why eat a whole cup, eat 1/4 cup and it's not going to kill your daily calorie count. :p
Pico Sun, March 14th, 2004, 04:29 AM popcorn is ok thats the only corn Ill eat :D
ThatOldGuy Sun, March 14th, 2004, 09:13 AM I put corn in the same category as white potatos and beer. I like all of them but I've given all of them up for the foreseeable future.
Bawl Mon, March 15th, 2004, 12:36 PM I think your numbers are a bit off...
GI is around 50 depending on how its prepared.
From Fitday:
Amount Per 1 cup
Calories 132.44
Calories from Fat 16.35
Total Fat 1.82g 3%
Saturated Fat 0.28g 1%
Polyunsaturated Fat 0.861g
Monounsaturated Fat 0.534g
Cholesterol 0mg 0%
Sodium 23.1mg 1%
Potassium 415.8mg 12%
Total Carbohydrate 29.29g 10%
Dietary Fiber 4.16g 17%

Personally, it doesn't seem that bad.

Yeah his numbers are way, way off. Corn seems fine to eat, IMO.
Butterflyer Mon, June 18th, 2007, 03:52 PM I think corn is great. Check out whfoods. (http://whfoods.org/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=90)
It's one of the foods that doesn't make me allergic, in moderation anyway, and I need some good carbs that don't make me allergic.:tu:
Where'd you get the 606 calories?
haha, I missed that this was an ancient thread.
Still, corn=not evil!
J_W Mon, June 18th, 2007, 04:12 PM Hmmm, speaking of corn. I wonder if caramel popcorn would pass as a PWO snack in combination with a protein shake. It's basically pure carbs. I love the stuff so much and have been trying to find a way to justify eating it .
phillydude Mon, June 18th, 2007, 04:17 PM Corn is not evil. The Children of the Corn (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087050/) are evil. And then there's this:

chris0374 Mon, June 18th, 2007, 05:10 PM Corn is not evil. It's a natural, unproccessed food. The only downside is that its calorically dense, which can be bad when cutting. But that's like saying peanut butter is evil. It definitely is not evil. Just eat some other carb source if you feel it's too dense in calories.

cc Thu, June 21st, 2007, 09:08 PM Looks like some serious data entry problems on nutritiondata's corn listing there.. 606 calories from 160g/1 cup of corn!? Birds Eye Gold & White Corn (http://www.birdseyefoods.com/birdseye/inspire/productDetails.aspx?name=BabyGoldWhiteCorn1lb) is 150 calories per 140g/1 cup, and that stuff's extra sweet.. regular large-kernel yellow corn is only about 100 calories per cup.
