I'm trying to find a somewhat accurate instrument for home body fat % measurements. I've bought and tried a scale, but the one I had was either busted, or I have no idea how to use it properly... :p

I guess I'm looking for one of those things like they have at my fitness center. It's an instrument (caliper perhaps?) that they used to take a measurement via pinching me in 3 separate locations.

The cheaper the better just so long as I can get within 3% on average.

they have a set of calipers on BodyBuilding.com
you can use a Bioelectric Impedance Analyzer as well
also, use a Myo tape, and bodycomp.com

Don't buy the BF scale, they're crap! Totally inaccurate! Your best bet is to go for some calipers. They're cheap and they work. I got mine on eBay for about $4USD.

It might have been a dumb purchase, but I went ahead and ordered the electronic one on bodybuilding.com. If It sucks I'll just sell it on ebay. :P

I assume you're refering to digital calipers. I've heard that there are a couple that are decent, but unfortunitly I don't recall the brand name/model.

The myotape is definately a nice thing to have! I'm sure the calipers are fine, but see if you can't have your Dr. or a trainer check for you as well just so you get an idea of how accurate they are.

I had the reading taken by one of the exercise physiologists at my fitness club last Monday. Hopefully the reading will be somewhat near the one she gave me.
