View Full Version : Question about armbands
Bahamut727 Tue, November 22nd, 2005, 12:29 AM hey im not sure if this is in the right forum, but here goes...
im thinking of getting an ipod armband thingy for when i workout. I have 2 questions. The main question I have is (this may sound kinda stupid but i dont know) will it be bad to wear when lifting since it is so tight? I just want to make sure it wont injure me or make my muscles all deformed or something :P
the second question is are those ipod armbands awkward to wear while running due to the weight of the ipod?
thanks a lot!

I wear one when I'm doing my platform work. I adjust it as I go because my bicep grows from the 'pump' but its never a problem. It doesnt have to be super tight to stay on there either, just keep it above your bicep and it holds its own.

You don't even notice it when I'm running, I'd say go for it!

Thats all good, but will I notice it when I'm runnin? :D
karatetricker Tue, November 22nd, 2005, 10:56 AM I don't use my iPod in the gym because of its size. I stick to my smaller, flash based players. However, I did use that with an armband for over a year with no problem. Recently though I started feeling pain in the arm around where I wore it, so I no longer do, I just clip it to my shorts. Whether or not it's related to using the band (lack of circulation daily for such long period of time?) I don't know, but I always prefer to be safe than sorry.
I'd either ensure you find a comfortable arm band, or just get a belt clip and wear it around your waist.
danboback Tue, November 22nd, 2005, 11:14 AM I dont have a problem wearing the armband during running or lifting. My only problem is the cord gets in the way or it won't sit right and I end up accidentally pulling my head phones out.

If you get a pair of headphones with a short cord (i.e. Sony 71s) you can just loop the cord under your shirt through your arm sleeve and it fits perfectly. It has never gotten in the way when I've done this.
doordude42 Tue, November 22nd, 2005, 02:00 PM I had to replace my arm band with a childs belt because of my massive guns.:flex: .............................yeah right!!!:neener: ..........:D
Dew Tue, November 22nd, 2005, 07:33 PM I use my band with the platform stuff, otherwise I have it on my waist clip. As far as the cord, I keep it under my shirt and run it thru my sleeve (for armband) or under my shirt down to my waist (for belt clip) and it is never a problem.

Lol...I did the stupidest thing. I was running on a treadmill, and had my iPod mini with me to try running with it. I had it resting in the place on the treadmill where you put water bottles/remotes and things like that. I knocked the cord out with my hand while I was running, and the force ripped the iPod out of the slot where it was resting. It slammed off the treadmill belt, bounced, and flew into the wall/floor, bouncing a couple more times. I was very surprised when this happened, and worried about my iPod. I actually didn't even stop running to check if it was okay because I was having such a good run. When I finished, I looked at it, and thank god, it still worked. But it had a scratch or two, and was pretty dirty, with a few marks on it. I guess the mini is pretty durable. I didn't even have a case on it! The thing got smashed pretty hard, it was a loud crash with a few good bangs, but nothing serious happened to it. The worst thing is that the white part on the bottom where you plug it into the computer is very very slightly loose, but you can't really tell and it works fine. It got turned off during the series of impacts...you can imagine how worried I was when I saw it wasn't on anymore, and the thing was all marked up and dirty, with the click wheel out of position.
SO....my point is make sure that you secure your iPod in some way so that it isn't liable to get trashed and destroyed!!
