The pain came after my workout yesterday. It hurts to sleep on my left side and hurts a little while rotating my shoulders. Is this something to worry about or will the pain go away in time?

When you say rotating your shoulders, do you mean doing 'arm circles'? The Abdominal Snowman Thu, November 17th, 2005, 09:23 AM The pain came after my workout yesterday. It hurts to sleep on my left side and hurts a little while rotating my shoulders. Is this something to worry about or will the pain go away in time? Was it after a shoulder workout, after a chest/tricep workout? It might be an impingement, so the best you can do, is give it rest until you can visit a doctor. Maybe he'll advise active recovery, or total rest. We can't diagnose from here. I wouldn't train your upper body until you know what's wrong. Have you been doing your rotator cuff exercises? If not, start them after your doctor tells you your shoulder is good enough again (he'll probably advise the same thing). Happy recovery! :tu: Bluestreak Thu, November 17th, 2005, 09:38 AM The pain came after my workout yesterday. It hurts to sleep on my left side and hurts a little while rotating my shoulders. Is this something to worry about or will the pain go away in time? If you can't sleep on it, that's is the #1 defining symptom of the beginning of impingement. I will say this loudly and in bold: STOP WORKING OUT NOW AND SEE A DOCTOR. Impingement is not usually something that just "goes away" quietly if you take some time off. Please, get it looked at. I made the mistake of just taking some time off, and then powering through the pain when I first developed impingement syndrome. Now, 14 months after I first developed it, I'm still battling it constantly and it is a major limitation for me. I hope you'll take me at my word and see a doctor now as a pre-emptive strike against this potentially debilitating problem. -R Benny Thu, November 17th, 2005, 05:38 PM oh mine... On my 2nd month of lifting too.. sigh.. and ya it hurts when i do arm circles, The pain is going away and it's just a slight pain but i'll still go see a doctor before working my upper body again. Hope it isn't really impingement or whatever this is . The funny thing is The pain came during my back workout, maybe I did something wrong during a set or rep at that one time.. oh well. Hopefully my injury isn't has bad as you have explained :(..Wish me luck. |
