I took progress pics yesterday and the week before. When looking at them yesterday, I noticed that my right shoulder sits considerably lower than the left. It's kind of freaking me out. I'm wondering if I should see a chiropractor. Now you're going to ask....."do you have problems w/ it?". Yes, as a matter of fact. Alot of times I get kinks or soreness just up and to the left of my shoulder blade. opinions/suggestions?

This could very well be due to a tight left trap muscle. I would try some shoulder rolls, as well as stretching your neck to the right, and right-front, and holding for about 30 seconds and doing that 2 or 3 times. Do that for about a week, 3x a day and see if your shoulder begins to drop. Perhaps you just have a tight trap, pulling your shoudler up.

Dude I have the exact same thing going on :) My right arm hangs lower than my left. I know this because another way to look at it besides the shoulder is the fingertips, you can see the asymmetry that way too.
If I get shoulder pain it's always in the left one, in the trap area.

I'm not sure what a chiropracter could do or not. But you could look into it if it bothers you too much.

i got the same thing....and i always deadlift with my left hand facing out and my right facing in...

never thought that it could be the deads messing me up....i went to a physiotherapist and she said my right shoulder was rolled forward compared to my left..

guess ill try swapping my hands deadlifting...even tho it feels weird

One of the reasons why deadlifting feels weird the other grip is because you have trained the nerves the other way. If your shoulders are asymmetric, then you have asymmetric muscular adaptation too.

Once you have an asymmetry already trained, and you want to fix it, you overcompensate the other way for a while until it evens out. Sometimes a long while.

There is another thread here about this at the moment.

Before I started working out with weights regularly, one shoulder was higher than the other and one leg was longer than the other. A chiropractor did fix that up after a couple of sessions.

You could probably work on it yourself through stretching and strengthening exercises to balance the shoulders out. I'm pretty sure my imbalance was from years of tension. :spaz:

I actually had to see a chiropractor a while back due to a 'rib that was out of place'. I'm not so sure it wasn't from my shoulders being off balance, come to think of it - b/c it was very near the area I still have some soreness in. Anyway, when I had those few visits to the chiropractor, I was told I carry LOTS of tension in my shoulders. She said they are just full of knots.

I knew a guy that happened to. He didn't get it taken care of and guess what happened. He died. :D :gl:

I think using weights decreases that a lot.
I used to get some carpal tunnel type symptoms, but weight lifting and swimming actually seem to keep them at bay. What a relief! :)

That spanky smiley sure is handy... I'll probably have to watch out or I'll be using it gratuitously AND all willy-nilly. :spank:
