... absolutely fine.

It was my sister's wedding. She's married a great guy, and it was an excellent day. I decided that instead of stoically picking out the occasional scrap of healthy food from among what was on offer, I would enjoy what was there, in its own right, with my family.

I began with a mushroom soup, and had salmon en croute (cooked salmon in pastry) with potato dauphinoise (lots of cream and cheese). This was followed by bread and butter pudding (for the non-English folk here, that's an exceedingly tastey northeastern English dish containing bread, butter, sugar and raisins). This was followed by a piece of wedding cake and sandwich quarter.

Apart from a very mild stomach ache, I feel great. I enjoyed it, I feel no remorse, I participated with my family (and new parts of my family) on a very happy day, and my estimated calorie count came out (by absolutely pure chance) about the same as it would if I had eaten my usual healthy food. Now I am eating my remaining meals as normal, and am looking forward to tomorrow's chest/biceps/arms workout at the gym.

The good comments I attracted from people who hadn't seen me for a while were almost embarassing, as it is tradition for the bride to be complimented and not her brother! But still, it was a positive and inspiring day. As this was my first cheat of any kind in eight months, I really don't think those extra doses of various fats are going to kill me. I think with all the tomatoes and other stuff I habitually eat, the extra cholesterol won't even think about getting oxidised.

Onwards and upwards. My remaining food for tonight is going to be chicken breasts and vegetables, to catch up on missed protein and fibre. I'm looking forward already to tomorrow morning's oats, skimmed milk and wheat bran - my favourite meal of the day :)

Congratulations, philph, on your sister's wedding. And of course, you did the right thing by participating fully. I would have done the same thing. And with this being your first cheat meal in 8 months, you were more than deserving. Just keep up your great work and get ready for even more positive comments at the next family get-together.:tucool:

Thanks, Carguy :)

Just as a followup, I had a fantastic gym session. Lots of energy!
