I love eating them and is one of my favorites. In fact it tastes better than the breast.

However someone told me to avoid eating the drumsticks (thighs, legs) as it has high fat content. Is it really bad? I remove the skin completely and then bake it.

The darker meat does have a higher fat content I believe. I wouldnt say it is bad for you just not as good. I definetly think it still constitues "clean eating".

They do not have high fat content if you remove the skin. I buy organic boneless skinless thigh fillets sometimes. According to the manufacturers packaging, each 4 oz serving has 4 gr of total fat, of which 1.5 is saturated. Not bad at all. You need some saturated fat in your diet to build muscle.

They taste better than than bonless skinless breasts, too. I grill them outside and the fire burns much of the fat off while leaving a nice charred taste.

When I used to count calories I used fitday. According to them

4 oz. breast roasted skin not eaten has 4 grams of fat

4 oz. drumstick roasted skin not eaten has 6 grams of fat

When you get to the darker meat next to the bone I believe that is where the added fat comes from. Either way if you are removing the skin the point is they are just fine to eat.

I think that's a getting to the point of "over-optimization."

It's chicken, it's pretty healthy.
