Tonight there was a sudden death in my family. My Grandpa who is in FL collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. They declared double kidney failure and 30 minutes later he had passed away. This is all very sad for our family, but the grieving has not really started yet as it was so sudden and unexpected. I mean, my wife and I left for the evening for dinner with some friends and did not expect that within that 3 hour period I would lose my grandpa.
Ironically, we were headed down to the ft. lauderdale area this wednesday to see HER g'parents. Since we have the flights down already we are just going to go ahead and fly into Ft. Lauderdale and rent a car and drive the gulf coast to where they live south of tampa about 45 minutes. I have a couple questions perhaps the Floridians could answer.
How far/long of a drive is it from Ft. Lauderdale to Venice on the gulf side?
How old do you have to be to rent a car in FL? I know in IL they make you par OUTRAGEOUS prices for "insurance" if you are under 25...which my wife and I still are until my bday this next June.
