Well, i was resting at the bookstore after my workout and looked at the newest muscle mags. (I never buy, but luv to waste time with them) There was an ad on a study done that showed that ppl who took whey AND Casein showed better gains over a 8 week period than those that only took whey. They took the protein post workout and presleep. I have been depating this for a while, and this may just push me over the hump to buy some non-whey. I have heard that miscean protein digest for 7 hours and egg protein is about 3. Since egg is cheaper, im gonna go with that. Any contradictiing opinions/advice/experience>
Btw, i have never seen so many annoying MuscleTech ads! THose things are like swimsuit spreads that talk up all this crap.

From what I understand... the protein in cottage cheese is almost all casein. I always have a cup of cottage cheese right before bed. Since I like it, it is no problem to eat it. I understand some don't have the same affinity for it ;) so maybe for them it would be a good idea.

Was that a study conducted by someone, or a company article written to sell their brand? just curious

I wouldn't mind some casein powder, but that stuff is outrageously expensive. I just eat more yogurt and milk to get that protein. I can't seem to get used to eating cottage cheese.

Cottage cheese is probably the best thing to ingest an hour before bed because as we all know, your body still needs fuel during sleep, and since casein is the slowest protein to breakdown, it remains in your system for a longer period of time, meaning no muscle catabolism and your body, if following the proper diet, will burn fat stores for that energy.
The studies done over that 8 week period may or may not be accurate, I don't truly believe in those clinical lab studies because everyones body reacts differently, however it's a well known fat that casein is a slow digesting protein and helps prevent muscle tissue breakdown.
And yes, I do eat a cup of cottage cheese every night an hour before bed.
