I could go into the whole biography, but it pretty much matches John's except for I have been a HEAVY drinker for atleast 10 years..

Recently, not sure why, I just decided I need to change.. So I went to the gym, did some reading and its been 12 days since and have lost 2% BF and around 9 lbs... Now that doesn't seem healthy.. But my main question, atleast for now is.. Considering I was drinking about 3 liters of white rum a week (which is insane), is that a reason for the drastic weight loss? Also, I ate nothing but carry out, trash food.. I think my body is in shock.

Funny thing is, I dont miss the liquor, 5 days into it, I drank my normal green tea/silver rum combo, I could only drink half of normal and passed out.. The following morning, I got something worse than any hangover I could imagine, I felt SOOOOOOOOOOOO drained.. Not the typical hangover.. Havent touched it since..

Anyhow this is a great site.. I will post progress pics soon..

I probably was consuming 5000 calories a day between fast food and 10-12 ounces of rum a day.. Now that I'm at 1600-1800 (cutting), do you think its ok that I'm losing so much? I am working out 7 days a week with weights and doing about 45 mins cardio daily..

Any help? And thanks John for a great site and inspiration.

You know...all I can think about is the fact that you dropped the booze cold. :tu: CONGRATS!
IMO I think that the weight you lost is due to the change in diet, the lack of alcahol, and the exercise all combined. 9 pounds more than likely should have been expected. The Rum probably caused you to retain a ton of water in that body, and when you dumped that your body was able to flush itself.

Good Luck with your new self, and your new journey! It's totally worth it! :claphigh:

I think you should rest more...to avoid overtraining and injury. It would be more healthy to rest one day/week. And to relax completely and also eat more that day. You must give your body a chanse to recover...Thats very important. Long term your progress will be better if you do that.

Thanks, I appreciate it.. Just wanted to know if that was normal or dangerous..

I was quite surprised there were no side effects or cravings for alchohol. No cold sweats.. I'm sleeping way better..

Now for the record.. Since I was in COMPLETE bad health, I did not mention the 2 packs of smokes a day and the weed smoking..

Now, I'm down to 1 pack, but I'm smoking a lot of pot usually 2 hours after the gym.. I'm eating all clean foods but only about 4 times a day (hectic schedule, working on it tho)..

I really understood what John said when he said, I felt like I could die any day..

I'm smart enough to know that will the abuse I've put on my body, I really should have expired a couple years ago..

I think for people trying to quit alchohol.. Just go train.. Easy as that, at least for me..

And for the record, I was a top 10 ranked swimmer throughout highschool.. I was around 165 - 7% BF.. Really fast metabolism.. And 2 weeks ago, I still think I must have had a fast metobalism or I should be 400 pounds.. I never got about 210 EVER.. So there was a max on me.. Anyhow, I'm rambling.. Thanks again for all you guys and girls on here. :claplow:

PWO - Whey Protein + Dextrose + 1 doobie. ;)

Just messing with you. Congratulations on your success so far, and especially on dropping alcohol. It's not easy at first, but once you do you sorta look back and think "it wasn't THAT hard." Some people do fine while getting boozed up a lot, not me. I'd EASILY ruin a full week of hard work by one night of drinking at the bars and clubs, back in the day. It was basically like I was working my butt off all week long just to keep myself from getting fat from the beer, then at some point regardless of training and diet the beer had me getting fatter and fatter. Once I dropped it, I really noticed radical changes to my physique. So good for you!

Buff, congratulations on deciding to change your life! 3 liters of rum a week, wow. Sounds like somewhere I've been before...

One thing you might consider is trying to rebuild some liver health. I've used milk thistle before after long benders and it is supposed to help. You could do some research on herbal remedies for this type of thing and I'm sure there are tons of blends out there. Hey I know you're into herb(s) anyway! ;)

I would also recommend drinking lots of water each day while your body cleanses of the alcohol. At least 2 gallons.

Yeah, you managed to stay pretty trim considering the lifestyle!

Thanks Travis.. I'll definatly look into some liver treatment. There was one bright spot in my life of debatchary (sp) and that was I've ALWAYS drank over a gallon of water a day.. It was either liquor or water.. hahah.. Never drank sodas or juices.. or milk..

If you were consuming 5000 calories a day, you can pretty much lose weight on anything less than that. 1800 calories sounds too low to me, for someone of your weight, especially given all the exercise you are doing. I'm worried you're at risk of losing muscle at this rate, not to mention fatigue and burn-out. Did you calculate your BMR? Check the stickies at the top, and I think you'll find that 2000-2400 might be a better range for your calories to be in for cutting. Likewise, anything more than three days a week each of weight training and cardio should be sufficient.

Had an awesome start.. Working out 7 days eating clean 7 days... No liquor..

So. Its 2 weeks later.. And on the advice of you all.. Its my cheat night.. But I'm not really cheating.. I think I'm messing up..

Today.. woke up.. Whey Shack.. 20 mins HIIT.. vitamins..blah..

Ate a meatless burger on white bread (all I had).. no mayo.. mustard.... tasted good.. went to work at 2..Forgot to bring apples or other fruit.. got off at 6:30.. Went and got my weeks food..And on the way home.. Got a 6 pack of Michelob Ultra.. I'm on #4 right now.. And I'll tell ya. Damn, 2 weeks ago it took 12-16 ounces to feel as drunk as I am now!! hahah.. I got some veggie chilli cookin now with whole wheat pasta..

Now.. What I need to know is.. Is THIS a cheat day? or just a bad day? If it isn't a cheat day, can I still goto Golden Corral on Sunday?

THHHHHHHHHANKS! Love you all!

Unfortunately, I'd have to say cheat meal with the 4 beers- so far. If you stop here at 4 that will minimize the damage. You can still make decent choices at Golden Corral. Just eat steak and a salad.

Well.. I finished the whole 6.. I had the chilli.. And some cashews for dinner.. I'mma drink a half a gallon of water before bed, so I assume my buzz will be short-lived.. But it was fun! Just testing my tolerance.. Should I still drink the protien shake before bed (if you dont get this before bed, for future reference) THX!

I probably wouldn't. Or maybe I would... I dunno really. Actually, I would skip it, but I gain weight easily and you don't. I had 1 margarita and 1 glass of wine tonite with my ribeye and mashed potatoes. I am gonna have my cottage cheese before bed.
