Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd share with you something that has been bothering me lately.

This year I made a high level cricket club, now in Australia we have what you call "District Cricket" and what you call "Grade Cricket", in district cricket, there are usually around 6-7 grades, and whats been called "park cricket". Basically it's a not too serious competition where mates can get together. 1st Grade is usually pretty good and competitive.

Then after that there is Grade Cricket, grade cricket much like district has 6 grades, however the clubs are VERY PROFESSIONAL and international players do play for them. If you are good enough to make first grade and then past that milestone, you are eligble for selection for your state, and then your country.

So I'm in 6th Grade of Grade Cricket at the moment, after starting off in 5's, the week after I played I get the call to tell me I'd been cut to 6's. Now this disappointed me as I didn't play badly, but there were a few good performances, and since I knew there were injuries, I copped it on the chin and moved on.

So its been like 5 weeks now and each game I've played in 6's I've carved them up. Played outstandingly, all the while I've heard nothing from 5's. Theyve already selected 2 players from 6's who I don't believe have done better than me. Not to mention 3/4 of the 5th grade team does not train, and in my book its pretty slack to just turn up to the game and not train.

It's really giving me the sh*ts and I just wanted to know, has anyone ever been in a similar position and any good advice would be appreciated.

of course I sure have. I have been cut from sports teams when growing up and did not have as much playing time as I thought I should of when I was in organized leagues.

Did the other two players that got called up play a different position then you? Maybe the needs of the team did not match what you could of offered? Does the coach like you? Did you get along with the players on the team?

The only thing you can do is keeping on playing hard each and every time you are on the field. Good things will come. Without being there from what you said the only thing I can think of is it is more personal then anything else.

DISCLAIMER: I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CRICKET
