View Full Version : Workout after Creatine
nemesis_0_ Mon, October 31st, 2005, 10:07 PM I just recently stopped supplementing Creatine (my body started rejecting it and it was making me sick as soon as i drank it). So today was my first day back lifting but with no creatine... can anybody tell me why this is happening... I stack up my 10 rep max, and its fine for about the first 2 sets. Then the next set ill get a few reps in but then i wont even have the energy to hold the bar up anymore. like it just crashes right down.

Did your diet, rest, or hydration change? Sounds like one of those to me.

How much water were you drinking with the creatine, and how much now? Is this still even happening?
How many months were you lifting before creatine usage and during creatine usage?
What is your diet like?
What are your stats?
What is your routine like?

If, as he said, his body rejected the creatine and it made him sick, I don't see how it could have made him much stronger in the first place. So I was looking for other reasons since there are millions of possibilities in this case.

He never said his body rejected it and he puked it up immediately, just that it made him sick. As far as we know, he was still on creatine, he just didn't like it.
You're right though, there are millions of possibilities.

That's what concerns me about creatine - that any gains in strength and bulk are temporary and lost after cessation of creatine intake. Personally, I took creatine for about a month and not sure I saw any impact on my routine. My particular brand of creatine (M-5) was particularly unpleasant tasting and I stopped using it to see if there were any changes in my lifting. (The jury is still out on that.) However, I remain concerned that any advantages may be only temporary as long as one continues to take creatine.

They're not ALL temporary. Some may be, but not 100% of them. Of course this also depends on your training, diet, rest, etc.
HevyMetal Tue, November 8th, 2005, 02:02 PM Nemesis-0.. What do you take your creatine with? I find if I mix it with various fruit juices I get collossal heartburn from the acid. Ditto if I have a coffee before I take it. But if I mix it with my whey shake and milk I don't. Could this stomach upset be what you mean by rejection? Also how much creatine do you take? Do you "load" on a continual basis? You might be taking too much...
Usually digestion is better if you find a fairly sweet non-acidic juice or drink and then add some sea salt
nemesis_0_ Tue, November 8th, 2005, 07:34 PM Ok lots to reply too :s ill try to reply to them all at once.... OK so... I wason creatine for about a month and a half before my body was rejecting it... and when i say rejecting i mean every time i would take it about 5 mins later id be puking my guts out. With the creatine i downed a 500 ml bottle of water. As for my Diet, its your typical 6 meals a day lotsa protein. Pre workout meal (Since at school its my lunch period right b4 i hit the weights) is usually a nice Turkey Sandwich and a bottle o Gatorade. As for hwat i mix the Creatine with, simply water. as for the not as strongness... yes i realized that, thats why i didnt try lifting as much as i did while i was on creatine... it still didnt help too much.... my shoulder actually popped out slightly today which was messed up but the nice doctor put it back in... i wonder if that had something to do with it ???

I take 3g post workout and that's it. My strength has gone through the roof and i put on 10pounds(water weight i hope) in a few weeks. I'll be taking until the summer.
3g - 3 to 4 times per week... I have 2 bottles that will last me a year:D
sc7389 Tue, November 8th, 2005, 07:51 PM I stopped taking Creatine a few days ago. Leg/Back day is coming up. I hope my strength does not decrease, and if it does, I hope it doesn't decrease too much.
