View Full Version : Bread. I love it.
Gorilla Monsoon Thu, March 11th, 2004, 11:49 AM I love bread. I mean I LOVE bread. I've cut down on it recently but find it extremely difficult to go a day without the stuff. You see, I love toast AND sandwiches. I love toasted sandwiches too.
I try to only have 2 slices of wholemeal bread a day. As long as I incorporate them into my calorie intake, is it worthwhile me eating the stuff while trying to get ripped?
I saw that John sometimes has some 'Sugar-Free Whole Grain Wheat Bread (Nature's Own)' in his diet, but I've never seen the stuff at my local store. Am I okay with just the normal stuff?
:eat:
unlevel Thu, March 11th, 2004, 12:13 PM I'm afraid I'm in the same boat...I LOVE bread, biscuits, donoughts, (insert tasty bread item here x 1000)
So, what's a bread lover to do? :eat:

taffer Fri, March 12th, 2004, 02:43 AM i eat 4 slices of bread a day!
you can get some breads with a REALLY low GI, i eat a bread that is 38GI (i got lucky finding it) and also pumpernickel, that satisfies my bread needs :)
pablo Fri, March 12th, 2004, 03:45 AM Yum Bread!
You've got to check out food for life's (http://www.foodforlife.com) sprouted grain bread. They're very satisfying and hearty while being low in calories and extremely nutritious. The cinamon raisin is great. You'll probably have to go to the health food grocery to get it though (whole foods and wild oats are great). You should also check out the clarence bass (http://www.cbass.com) web site. This guy wrote the book on getting ripped and staying ripped while eating a peanut butter sandwich every day. The guy is amazing. He stresses satisfaction as a key component to successful eating. So if bread is satisfying find a healthy loaf and go for it (with moderation). Good luck. Keep eating bread.

Jingo Fri, March 12th, 2004, 08:27 AM i eat 4 slices a day too, good proper wholemeal bread is one of the better carb sources.
jtsizzly Fri, March 12th, 2004, 11:39 AM You could look into low carb breads.... real high in fiber... higher in protein then regullar bread. They still taste pretty good too. Thats another option.
trebek Mon, March 15th, 2004, 01:00 PM I hear white bread has little to no nutritional value to it. I dont know if this is relevant to this thread, but is it true? I also cannot find this bread.
Jim Mon, March 15th, 2004, 01:02 PM I use to take bread with nearly everything, I dud cut down on it, but found it hard.
I just take brown bread.
Reno_1ted Tue, March 16th, 2004, 09:23 AM Mmmmmm bread!
Whats up with eating bread? So long as u dont eat a whole loaf every hour that is. Are you telling me that i shouldnt be eating bread if im cutting?
Please tell me theres nothing wrong with bread. I love bread, and i expend a lot of energy in the gym, so burn my carbs and cals and sugars and fat and so surely i can have my 2 bits of toast with my shake at breakfast and tuna sandwiches for lunch???
What is this, bloody atkins or something !!??!!
Duckman Tue, March 16th, 2004, 09:38 AM nothing wrong with bread as long as it's high in fiber and below 50 in carbs. The bread I eat is usually around 35-45 grams per 100.
F1Champ Tue, March 16th, 2004, 10:29 AM During the day, whole grain, rye, pumpernickel breads which have low GI and high fiber are fine. I eat those without added sugar.
On the other hand, white bread is no no.
simon.karlsson Tue, March 16th, 2004, 12:36 PM Iīve stopped eating white bread since I started cutting, it makes me feel better. I guess what they say probably makes sense, whoever it was that said something about white bread, hrm!? maybe itīs just my health craazy brother going on about it... does it really encrease risk of cancer?. it is true that it is low on calories, but is it the same empty calories thats in a beer?..
bloggins02 Tue, March 16th, 2004, 12:46 PM When I first started cutting (the first time, back in '02), I thought I would HATE eating whole wheat bread everyday.
Surprise, surprise, while I still liked white bread, I no longer craved it. Today, I actually crave whole wheat bread. When I'm at the store, I go straight to the whole wheat breads, I don't even notice the white bread.
Donuts and kolaches, on the other hand....
F1Champ Tue, March 16th, 2004, 01:16 PM btw, whole grain is better than whole wheat. From what I've found, the GI is lower with whole grain or mix grains than in whole wheat.
Reno_1ted Wed, March 17th, 2004, 08:42 AM So i should switch to brown, wholemeal bread then? Does it really mae that much difference to weight loss?
take5 Wed, March 17th, 2004, 04:16 PM White bread has a similar effect to the bady as sugar, because are highly refined, heavily processed simple carbs.
Evil Hx Coupe Thu, March 18th, 2004, 12:12 AM I eat 4-6 slices of whole wheat low carb bread a day and I'm still loosing about 2 Lbs a week.
2 Morning
2 Lunch
2 4:00PM snack. (sometimes)
I LOVE BREAD.
chicanerous Thu, March 18th, 2004, 12:39 AM I absolutely love bread! I've been known to eat the whole loaf in one sitting. Bakery kind, not shelf-bought pre-cut bags. ;)
born sleepy Fri, March 19th, 2004, 01:02 AM I eat this bakery's (http://www.frenchmeadow.com/) breads, maybe 2-4 slices a day. their Hemp and Men's breads are delish and substantial. it might be a little hard to find outside of the Twin Cities (MN) area but places like Whole Foods should have it frozen.
Luke.S Fri, March 19th, 2004, 08:33 AM Thing is that i've found is that i crave the carbs in bread, like today i've had porage for breaky and i just don't feel like bread.
