View Full Version : My knees finally gave out :(
Sake Ninja Wed, March 10th, 2004, 05:44 PM I think a bad batch of squats on Monday was to blame on top of trying to run 3 days in a row, but today I could barely manage two stretches of my normal five in cardio. I could barely stand the limp home. Then, got inside and blacked out for a few. Time to see the doc and see if the supplements are the cause :p Then tomorrow I'll get written up at work for taking off and I still got a trip to Texas I'm supposed to enjoy come Friday. Argh. Not a great week.
I know he'll tell me to take it easy, and frankly that's the hardest thing I could do right now. I was always told to find my limit, not to bust it :)
I want Chinese :(
Fudgam Sun, March 14th, 2004, 09:48 PM My knees are starting to act up too. Ive started taking MSM for them. MSM is a sulphur supplement that should help with joint problems.

I take Flex-A-Min for my joints (1.5g Glucosamine complex/1.2g Chrondroitin Sulfate/.5 g MSM)

Don't remind me....
1 ACL torn so far, probably have to have that knee redone sometime soon (it has yet to feel back to "normal" I get this popping feeling with every step and after my basketball or volleyball practice I can barely stand up in the shower it hurts so bad...*sigh*)
Doctor also said I'll probably have my other knee tear, too (*oh boy*) why O why did I have to grow so fast?! (not that I have a problem with being 6'5" )
xlr8ed Sat, March 20th, 2004, 01:04 AM I have had knee problems for a while. That is why i had to quit the college basketball team last semester. They seem better this semester when playing volleyball. It has to be because I grew 25cm/10in in one summer when i was in highschool! Now i am 6'5". I am trying to loose weight now, not only to look and feel better, but to give my knees 20-25lb less to worry about moving around all day. That is why i want to loose fat mostly, whithout gaining the weight back in muscles.
unlevel Sat, March 20th, 2004, 08:28 AM Whoa! That sounds EXACTLY like me!!
haha! I'm 6'5", had to pretty much quite playing basketball cause all the running, liking volleyball much better, and want to lose some weight to ease the weight on my knees!!
neato... :D
supertrainer Sat, March 20th, 2004, 11:04 PM Supplements aren't the cause. MSM, Chondroitin and Glucosamine can help, so can ice and rest. It sounds to me like you are overtraining. Yopu would make faster progres if you backed off a bit. Heavy squats and running three days in a row is asking for trouble.
