Hi there,
as some of you may have read in my previous post I've been having some troubles with my supplement-free post-workout nutrition.

Thing is I've been able to get my hands on a protein powder, but now I'm not sure that's what I needed. I bought a powder which is NOT whey protein, but rather a 90% concentrate of "milky protein" ( ) with some minerals, vitamins and BCAAs added.

What worries me is the fact that this protein might be too slow-digesting to work as a post-workout shake. Could it be casein protein? The manufacturer doesn't state clearly where does it come from. Here's the English web site of the product: http://www.megaplus.es/prod/ami/ami-e.htm

I had to drive 15 miles and pay $35 to get 2lbs of this, so I hope that some of you will reply to this message saying that I've nothing to worry about :o :D

Thanks a lot!

Milk protein means it's mostly casein, but casein is a very good protein to take. Although whey is generally considered the best protein to take after a workout, I think you will be fine with this powder. I guess I would keep a look out or keep calling the stores around your area and try and convince them to carry whey or order it for you to see if you can get a cheaper deal.

Thanks for your answer D
I've had one of these shakes (25g protein powder, 25 cl skim milk, 2g dextrose) together with 25 cl Powerade and a cereal bar which is quite high in sugars (8g).

I'd like to know if this casein whey is doing me any good as a post-workout supplement, cos that's a lot of calories and I want to be sure I'm not wasting them!

If this protein is indeed casein I will probably use it for cooking/baking purpouses, since I'm more than happy with my bowl of cottage cheese w/ low-fat yogurt as my late night snack.

I'm bumping the post to try and get more comments on it. Thanks a lot guys, waiting for your replies!
