This (http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/articles-submit/tom-venuto/risk-benefit-extreme-fat-loss.htm) article describes different weight loss techniques including HITT, LISS, Weight Training and Nutrition.

Good Read for anyone.

"What makes an exercise of nutrition technique worth including in your program is whether the benefits outweigh the risk given your goals and situation."

An interesting idea, but the formulaic strategy of choosing diet and exercise is not necessarily the best way for everyone.

None of these programs seemed to have scientific evidence to back up the authors assessment of aparent risk versus benefit. I say it's best to just do what feels right to you, and what you enjoy most. THAT will give you the highest benefit.

Trash the scientifc evidence. :) Its soild advice. No point in doing what feels right to you if your wasting your time and not reach the goals that i assume one would have in undergoing a fitness program.

However, i agree people response differently to different techniques and the author is quite clear that's its Risk to Benefit, he's not telling you what you HAVE to do.

scientific evidence also says eating 3 packages of chipsahoy cookies a day will hinder your fatloss progress.
but it definatly feels good and brings enjoyment to me.
should i do it?

lets not forget that scientific evidence *IS*, in fact, scientific evidence.
but if it's something like fasted LISS vs HIIT - then ya, both work great.

I do what feels right.
Sure, it wasted time, but it was enjoyable to me.
I reached my goals anyway.

I understand more advanced people wanting studies but i thought it was a good article for newbies and i believe its pretty solid and straight forward advice.

My point, if it was unclear, is that doing what burns the maximum fat or builds the maximum muscle is not always the option with the most benefit. If I'd tried from the start to follow to the letter the "best" training technique and the "perfect" diet, I simply would not be here today, and would not have accomplished what I did.

Don't mean to disrespect the article. There's good points in there.

Ok, i get ya. People have to learn by trail and error sometimes no doubt about that. I myself haven't really use the best techniqucs most of the time. Its all about balance and your lifestyle.

Something is always better than nothing.

Sitting on the couch eating Cheetos and watching Seinfeld feels right to me. When will I start seeing my abs? :p

Thanks for the article I got some good tips from it I think. I think the fasted cardio and not eating for an hour after cardio I was doing is a bit too risky so I'm going to add some protein in before and after.

I didn't say you'd see your abs, I said you'd get the best benefit. ;)
I don't think sitting on the couch eating Cheetos does feel right to you, or else that's what you'd be doing. Nevertheless, the article offers additional information to help people decide what's best. :tu:
