I know John would disagree with me, since he eats them a lot. But I think they taste horrible. My breakfast now consists of either <3 egg beaters, 2 go lean waffles and 1/8 cup sugar-free syrup.> or <3/4 cup Kashi go-lean, 3/4 cup Total Protein, and 1 cup skim milk.> Both fill me up and are great nutritionally. LiveWire Thu, March 11th, 2004, 11:12 AM I found in the grocery store yesterday Jimmy Dean 97% Fat Free Sausage and it isn't Turkey. I am going to start using it with my eggs in the morning. A 2.5oz serving size contains the following: cal - 90 fat - 2g sat fat - 0g chol - 35mg sodium - 410mg carbs - 1g protein - 11g Zan Thu, March 11th, 2004, 11:16 AM I have to agree with rhelt here. The Boca breakfast patties taste really really horrible. I'm not sure what it is, but there is a very distinct aftertaste that lingers. It's bad. Give them a shot, you may really enjoy them but don't buy more than one package until they pass the Pepsi challenge. On a side note, the Boca burgers are GREAT! I highly recommend them. Fantastic on a nice wheat bun. chops Thu, March 11th, 2004, 11:40 AM i agree that they taste bad too. aside from that, they are not filling to me and i can eat something better for the same amount of calories. HunkOLove Sat, March 13th, 2004, 11:46 PM I thought the patties sucked but the links for some reason seemed to taste better to me. Probably just me they're made out of the same stuff but maybe the flavoring is different. Morningstar Farms is another meatless - soy brand that makes links that taste pretty damn good. I used to eat a whole pack of real pork links for breakfast before so I really like links. I can do the Bocca and the Morningstar Farms are better. I will have to check out the 97% fat free Jimmy Dean since the nutrient info doesn't look much different than the soy ones. FionaMaeve Sat, March 13th, 2004, 11:49 PM I *love* the Morningstar Farms stuff. They have awesome corndogs. SCHTEEVIE Sun, March 14th, 2004, 12:57 AM I looked all around for boca in the Toronto area, I found the burgers, but not the breakfast patties... I ended up finding this Canadian competitor: YVES veggie (http://www.yvesveggie.com) Thier breakpast patties taste great, and have almost twice the protein and half the fat of boca for the same sized serving! A friend of mine from winipeg has tried both and agress YVES are better then boca based on the nutritional info, and he says they taste the same or better and cost less. I recomend YVES over boca. Bunko Sun, March 14th, 2004, 08:04 PM First time I tried them, I expected something horrible. But to my surprise, I actually liked them. I think they are pretty good. You should give them a try. Just make sure to get the ones without trans-fats. Don't expect a beef burger taste and you will be all right :) |
