not bad, and i presume you dont need to pay shipping costs since you are in NJ, and i think the company has a warehouse in NJ right?
outside of Jersey, Dicks Sporting Goods is selling hex dumbells at $0.35 a pound, with a price match against GALYANS. Also, they will match(at least did last night) the price of equipment from New York Barbells.

Yep, no shipping costs, I would go pick it up at the warehouse, and there would be no sales tax added.

Do all Dicks Sporting Goods stores price match GALYANS and New York Barbells? And If they do, do they count the price of shipping when they price match?
corbint Tue, March 9th, 2004, 08:19 PM nope, they wont include shipping price. last night, i had them price match an ez-curl bar. they were selling it for 39, NYB had it for sale for 29. they matched without issue. galyans sells online, and is in a lot of cities where Dicks are located, so they shouldnt have an issue.
corbint Tue, March 9th, 2004, 08:20 PM in fact, the Dicks i went to wasnt even in the same STATE as the galyans they were matching!

500 lbs total (with DBs up to 120 lbs)........
You could start with what you are currently doing and build up from that in 10 lb increments. FYI, you can buy magnetic 2.5 lb plates to attach to the DBs. They attach/detach fast and easy and can make the 5 lb increments unnecessary
I would go for something like 2X30, 2X40, 2X50, 2X60, 2X70 dependant on where you are right now.
