Hi All--

I am a "newbie" on this site but look forward to taking an active part. I am already impressed with the plethora of great information, inspiration and motivation.

As a "senior", I have always been interested in fitness and nutrition as a way of life. Since there are few quality web sites aimed at the "Over 50's" gang, I have created a non-commercial (repeat: non-commercial) one to fill that gap. I invite all to take a peak at: kenchi's Senior Fitness (http://netconex.com/kenchi) Your input would be apprceiated.

I am also curious if there are other "seniors" are out there who are as serious as I am about fitness. Let's support each other by exchanging training tips, etc. Our goals and problems are different from the "20-somethings" and, let's face it, we can use all he help we can get.

Thought I would add a recent photo as an introduction. It was taken last year at age 69.

HOLY COW

Shut up! That is you at age TWENTY nine! :D

Damn, impressive to say the least.

Yes, there are a few seniors on here who are serious about health and fitness.

Welcome!

I've been to your site Kenchi and have checked it out many times. You might want to check out the following thread here at JSF: Fit women over age 42 to age 89 on parade (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=10747)

In fact, a couple of the women on that thread are from your site.

I think it would be great to create cross traffic between your site and here.

I think it is great you are psoting here...and what an inspiration your photo is....really :)

Justitia--

What a great response - thanks. So glad to find other "Over 50's" fitness buffs and to learn that we are not alone. I visited your thread and read your progress reports and am impressed. Congrats!

Thanks, too, for your kind words on my Site. I would like to see more senior women visiting and taking an active part. Perhaps you can help.

I agree that John Stone's forum is the best on the web and I have been wading thru tons of great information. As to "cross referenceing", I just added a very strong endorsement and link on my home page.

Thanks again for your post. And best wishes for continued success.

(to which I would say "Hey, ladies present!") I can confirm that is indeed a picture of Kenchi age 69 to which I could add the following:

Mr. Paul Stone (aged 70)
Captain (Retired) Scott Hults (aged 62)

I assure you, GTX was by know means questioning the validity of the photos. He was in fact complimenting Kenchi.
I suppose I would be considered one of the "seniors" here at age 51. There are quite a few of us. It's great to have a new member join the ranks of the "senior citizen brigade". :tu:

By the way Kenchi, you look terrific!!!!!!! :tucool:

Apparently sarcasm and COMPLIMENTS don't come across well over the internet. So, I apologize if I didn't use the right emoticons or explain myself further. If you assumed I really thought he was twenty-nine, you assumed wrong (and, again, perhaps I didn't explain well, so I'm sorry).

I was complimenting him; in other words, "you may be 69 but you LOOK like you're 29." It is a fantastic physique, I was impressed, and I was trying to be nice!

And I don't quite understand "hey, ladies present!" Was it rude to use the word "damn?" If you look through my posts I RARELY swear, and I always try to be nice to everyone. Regardless, if that was offensive I do apologize, and I'm not being sarcastic and I really am sorry.

Anyway, welcome to JSF and I hope you enjoy it here! You may have thought I was a jerk but I assure you this is a nice place and we are all good people (well, most of us!!). :d_biggrin

GTX--

Not sure I understand that comment either, but I assure you that *I* understood your post and took it as a compliment - for which I thank you sincerely. And I certainly agree that this forum is made up of the best of the best.

:tucool: No worries! You look great by the way. I only hope I can look half that good when I reach your age!

Oh and I did look at your site. You have some good articles and pictures over there. I especially liked the link to the Ripped Abs article. Not shabby at all!

kenchi,
Wow... WOW! You look absolutely amazing! I can't tell you how incredibly motivating it is to look at your photos. My hat is off to you. Welcome to the forums, I'm looking forward to reading your posts!

Muscled Welsh Webmaster,
You're also new here, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Please understand that 1FastGTX is one of the most helpful and positive individuals on this forum. He's a long-time and very well-respected member. His comments were complementary, and totally appropriate. Please don't assume the worst about people. No offense, but you're going to need to lighten up a bit. This is an Internet message board, not a eulogy. ;)

What an inspiration Kenchi. At my age in the mid 40's it's great to see what hard work and dedication can produce in a guy almost 70. Just awesome!! Welcome to the forums

Man, great body. You are a perfect model for us older guys to aspire to. Everyone should take a look at your site.

I see you stress intense Ab workouts. It seems the latest fad is to downplay AB work.

How would you classify your weight routines? intense?

I agree with John. 1fastGTX is one of the most helpful and polite posters here. I thought his intent was very clear.

Kenchi, all I can say is WOW! Simply amazing.

Being 45 myself, I think I'm closer to being in the "senior" category. But I am in no where near as good shape as Kenchi. What an inspiration. I'm going to check out your site now

Belated, but sincere, thanks to all who replied to my post and for your kind words. As I said in another thread, as we get older motivation becomes more difficult and more important so it is forums like this and the support of its members that are so helpful.

Wow - thanks much! One of my chief goals is to show other "seniors" that there really *is* life after 50, 60 and even 70! It is never too late to adopt fitness and sound nutrition as a way of life.

How would you classify your weight routines? intense?

When the above pix were taken (about a year ago at age 69), I was working with a personal trainer and, yes, routines were "intense". Unfortunately, I then had some joint problems from lifting too heavy followed by several trips out of the country without a gym and not the best diet. I backed off a bit on the weight, but am now completely "healed" and more fired up than ever. My current goals are to firm up once again and drop my BF back to its previous 9%

From the short time I have been active in this forum, I have already seen that and agree totally. To me, his "intent" was *very* clear.

Kenchi, all I can say is WOW! Simply amazing.

It is feedback like that that makes it all worth it. Thanks!
