I finally decided to start my own journal after many months of lurking. I've been totally commited with working out for over a year now and it truly has become a "lifestyle change" for me. I haven't achieved the dramatic results that some of the other JSF members have, but I'm still workin' at it! Here are my stats:

Age: 43
Ht: 6'0
Wt: 225

My goal is to get down to around 205 and re-evaluate from there. I've been on a long slow cut and I plan on doing this until I reach my goal weight. I have no doubts that my diet has hindered my progress and I am working hard to get it in order. Anyway....I plan to use this journal as an added motivational tool to help me reach my goals.

Attached are a couple of pictures from a few months ago.

Congratulations on starting a journal-you mentioned you'd made some progress already. what was your weight at its highest?

What type of workout routine will you be doing?

Good luck man-you've already got a ton of muscle mass so you should have no problem getting the physique you want.

Thanks Nico & Butterfly! My highest weight was 247 lbs around Aug 2004. I've mixed things up with my lifting routines, but lately I'm using a 4 day split (Mon-Back/Abs; Tue-Shoulder/Tri's; Thur-Legs/Abs; Fri-Chest/Bi's). We'll see how this goes for awhile. Because of my schedule, I'm limited to my workout time, so I usually lift first thing in the morning at home. I do cardio on non-lifting days (Wed, Sat). Every now and then I'll try to sneak a cardio session in in the evenings on lifting days.

So you lift at home-do you have a nice setup? Looking at you I have to assume you're using free weights and can probably lift a truck.

I pretty much have the basics. Bench, 300lbs OLY Set, a few extra plates, Free Standing Bench, Dumbells, Recumbent Bike, Elliptical, etc...I don't have a rack cause I don't have room for one right now. Thanks for the compliment, but to be honest I don't try to lift too much because of safety concerns. I just try to lift as heavy as possible without jeopardizing my safety. I'm comfortable with my dumbells but have outgrown my 90 pounders. I'm looking to purchase some 100's soon. Oh yeah...I just had a "recent edition" added to my home gym. I got this yesterday:

I spent most of last night putting it together and ended up getting only around 4 hours of sleep. Needless to say...I skipped my morning workout today :D

So it looks like you can do calf presses and squats on that aparatus? Hopefully it's a comfortable motion.

100 pound dumbells? That's insane-I think the heaviest I've used is 75 on a slightly inclined bench.

I don't know how I did it but I managed to get my Leg day in this evening after only about 4 hours of sleep last night. I didn't try to over do it, but I had a pretty good workout considering the lack of sleep. I even felt good enough afterwards to get in about 6 games of Ping-Pong against my neighbor. I whupped him 4 games to 2

I'm pretty much toast now. Time for some serious Zzzzz's

Damn! I can't believe I let a whole month go by without updating my journal:( Anyway...I'm back and I've since signed up with SGX and working on my 3rd week of the program. So far..so good. I haven't missed a workout yet and the weight (and inches) is slowly coming off:nod: I'm still adjusting to the diet though, but it's getting easier each day. Hopefully I can get some pictures up this weekend.

Peace Out!
