Fat supposedly requires very few calories to maintain - I've seen claims of 3 to 10 calories per pound per day. Caloric needs can't really be estimated in this fashion - that "X" amount of muscle requires "X" amount of calories. Caloric needs are more accurately calculated by looking at your daily routine - your average caloric intake, your stress levels, mood, macronutrient ratios, etc. -R guava Wed, October 5th, 2005, 05:02 PM If you plunk your measurements into www.mybodycomp.com, it will give you a rough estimate of how much lean body mass you have and how much fat mass you have, and then will give you a body fat percentage estimate. The estimate is VERY rough however; I wouldn't bet money on it. Your lean body mass is the sum of the weight of your bones, muscles and organs. I'm not sure if there's a way to take the bones and organs out of that number. |
