I need some help with my nutritional situation. here goes....

I am violently allergic to all nuts and nut oils. Due to their close chemical structure, i am also allergic to other things such as beans, fruit, and some legumes. It was termed something known as OAS (oral allergy syndrome) when I saw an allergist. I cant eat any sort of fruit unless it has been pasteruized or boiled. So raw apples out; apple pie, apple sauce ok. I wish i was making this up.

as part of my quest to eat healthier, i have developed an enjoyment for sushi. I even learned to make my own (not nearly as well as a professional chef), albeit without avacado or cucumber. Nutritionally, the type i prepare is very low fat and high in protein. However I started to wonder about if the rice has too many carbs. Also perhaps salt is a concern, but I use low sodium soy sauce...and more wasabi than soy sauce at that.

I realize to some degree I need to just suck it up and eat better when it comes to eating pizza, diavlo pastas, chicken marsala, etc...However, I am curious if anybody has any suggestions on what types of things I could eat instead of fruits and nutz. I think the lack of variety is killing me.

The foods i typically eat throughout a week include:
grilled chicken, pasta with meat and tomoato sauce/mushrooms, eggs, sushi, baked potatos, shrimp, tuna, crab, 2 protein shakes w/ choc milk, diavlo pasta, pizza, yogurt, deli ham and swiss sandwiches

I know I have a ways to go, but i've gotten much better with portions with the bad stuff (ie. 2 pieces of pizza instead of 4, etc..)

Positive changes i've made in diet this year:
cut down from 6-8 diet sodas/day to 1-2
drink about a gallon of water a day
cut out fried foods (i confess i slip once every few weeks)

I think i can attribute the remaining poor habits to the fact i cant get healthy sugars into my diet in the form of fruits/etc...

Any help you could give would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Ed

Oops. Guess I posted this in the wrong section. If one of the mods happens to see this, could they move it to the beginners section for me?

Thanks.
