Hi guys,
Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Looking to get back into shape after three years of sloth. I'd say right now about 25 pounds overweight. Started running again a few months ago. Then started shopping around for a gym membership. But after looking at the prices for what I wanted, 24 hour access at any location, decided to buy my own equipment. Also just joined global-fitness.com

Went with a body solid FID bench and a set of ironmaster dumbbells. Starting to have doubts about my purchases. NOw I look at my bench and dumbbells, thinking wow that stuff cost me how much? I was also considering the costco home gym set up with all the bells and whistles. But decided it looked too complicated, too much hassle for a beginner trying to get back into the swing of things.

My biggest downfall is I won't change my diet. To me eating is one of life's greatest pleasures. I like food, wine, and bourbon. Sure I make small sacrifices here and there, but overall if I want chicken fried steak, by God I'm going to eat it :d_biggrin .

Thanks for reading

Welcome dude, it will be hard to get in "good" shape without adjusting your diet but i eat a moderately "bad" diet. Some people here follow very strict diets, i too might do it in the winter for the summer cut.

Welcome once again lots of fitness minded people here.

Without a healthy diet, your work in the gym will be completly canceled out. (assuming you're trying to tone up your body/cut).

I think you can still bulk with a shitty diet, as long as your getting alot of protein and carbs in per day.
My brother did a great job of this, but he's also an ectomorph, so for some reason his body doesnt know how to store fat

clean up your diet, and welcome.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've lost about 10 pounds in the ~three months I've been running. I'm pretty happy with that. I would've lost more if I adjusted my diet. I agree that without changing my diet, results will be less than the best. But I"m just being honest with myself, it's not worth it to me.

I'll be honest with your dude. If you continue to lost muscle (don't know if you are) and continue to eat like you always have and then when you reach your goals stop excercising you'll put all your weight back plus more. A lot of people here will say weight training is the most effective for weight management and i believe it to be true. I hope so because i enjoy it much more than cardio. However, these GPP programs i have been looking at and one i just tried are something i really could get into. With a little bit of outdoor walking i should be happy with my routines.
