View Full Version : BF% Estimates Please
Bat Tue, September 20th, 2005, 11:27 AM Hi all,
Would anyone be so kind as to give me some BF% estimates please?
I know the pics are low quality and only partial body, but maybe they will give an idea.
Cheers,

Bluestreak Tue, September 20th, 2005, 11:34 AM Low/mid teens... without seeing the rest of you, I'd say 15%-ish.

Yeah I agree about 15%
Bat Tue, September 20th, 2005, 11:47 AM Thanks guys. Yeah I was guessing around 14%. I guess some more careful cutting is in order for now. I'm starting to get a bit light and am making sure I avoid the mistake I made early this year. I dropped down to 156 pounds and lost a stack of muscle towards the end. Got back up to 182 pounds, but gained a fair bit of fat with the muscle. Been cutting again for a while now, but taking it slow.
Bat Tue, September 20th, 2005, 01:47 PM D'uh just realised I posted the same pic 3 times. Now fixed.
buggalug Tue, September 20th, 2005, 08:16 PM Hi Bat,
Not sure on the BF, but these guys know what they're talking about. I was actually wondering what the scar was from? I have almost exactly the same scar from pyloric stenosis.

Hi mate. Not a scar I'm afraid, but a crease from my rolls of fat when I sit down
Hadn't spotted it was visible in the picture until you mentioned it actually.

Oops :o sorry about that. You definately don't have that much fat though!

Hehe not a problem. Made me
Oh and thanks for the fat comment!
Reno_1ted Wed, September 21st, 2005, 08:55 AM I would say maybe 16%.
Shaving the chest is a great way to shave a few % BF off to. :D

And nothing will get your butt on the treadmill and in a tanning bed like shedding your fur and seeing all your trouble spots and your pasty white skin. When you take off the hair... you're about as bare and exposed as it gets. Talk about motivation... and it doesn't bother at all to grow the hair back, either. The biggest pain in the ass for me when I let my hair grow out a little is that my chest hair constantly catches on my shirt.

wh0rume Wed, September 21st, 2005, 10:18 AM Call me crazy - but i'd say 13.5%.
I say do a slow bulk until mid february, then do a slow cut until summer (something like SGX where you can add more muscle too).
Why do you want to look skinny in the off season?
There aren't many beaches open in the winter, and some good muscle will look better on you than being 8% bf.
Up the calories to about 500 above maintanance/day - slow bulk...slow bulk...
And i know what you're thinking...
You have fat that you really want to get rid of that you find annoying.
I have the same problem, but cutting without some good quality muscle mass is not only difficult to do, but also pointless.
That's why i'm bulking right now, even with all the annoying fat on my love handles/lower stomach/chest.

Thanks man, I appreciate your input. I must say I think I am lower then 16%.
I can relate to you often when I read your journal. I can never make up my mind, but am really dead set on stripping off some more fat before I do anything else. However, this may well change
Anyway, here are some more pics. Still crappy, but better than the first lot as I really think they made me look worse.
Any more estimations?

wh0rume Wed, September 21st, 2005, 11:53 AM yep. i have that same kind of fat, man...
I know how annoying it is to look in the mirror everyday and seeing it.
But let's look at the facts....
* you're 6'2, 168 lbs, and still relativly young.
* if you look up your BMI, you're probably in the lower section of "normal".
* It's fall, the leaves are turning colors soon, and beaches are closing. No one is going to see you without a shirt besides your girlfriend, but girls like confidence more than anything.
* Based on your stats (and legs), when people see you in clothes, they will think you're skinny.
I can't tell you what to do obviously, but you're going to have one hell of a time trying to cut with your muscle mass.
i've tried for months and months, and it's near impossible.
Try your best to ignore your stomach for now when you look in the mirror.
Focus on adding muscle onto your frame so that when you start cutting before next spring, you'll have muscles to show off instead of showing off your cool rib cage.
Personally, i hate going out on weekends and seeing all the guys my age with huge traps, arms/muscles, and them i'm there feeling all skinny. (but that's just me)
Sole Wed, September 21st, 2005, 01:21 PM I would say maybe 16%.
I agree.
