You should spend some time researching. There have been many, many threads devoted to helping new trainees whether their goals are to gain muscle or to lose fat, or both. Spend time reading, searching, etc. The information is all out there, and all on here. It's not that we don't want to help you, we do! But we can't devise a diet and training protocol for everyone without people trying to help themselves first. There is so much information on this website, so just start reading and come back with questions. We'll be waiting to help. :gl:
BTW, I didn't know gear came in a powder... ;)
wh0rume Tue, September 20th, 2005, 07:53 PM ...Layne Norton: Bulking - How to do it right... (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/layne2.htm)
He wrote this a long time ago, and now advocates doing short sessions of high intensity cardio on days you're not lifting. (to up your IGFHZ4's or something like that, which will make you gain faster)
...but i think you have that covered with the basketball.
hahah... yeah, stay away from the gear.
you dont want to get kicked out of basketball for trying to get in shape for it. :)
mastover Wed, September 21st, 2005, 03:19 PM At your height and weight, eat like a madman, squat and deadlift. No gear, supps, or powders are needed.

All the lifting in the world ain't gonna do squat my friend, if you don't eat. Lifting doesn't shape.... it builds muscle. Without the caloric backup, you'll be wasting your time.

I know, I was just messing with ya. :D
You don't NEED to take anything (except maybe a multivitamin). A protein powder or meal replacement powder will help you get more protein/calories (and maybe fat/carbs depending on what you get), but they are not necessarily necessary. If you can get all of your cals/pro/fat/carb/etc. from food then go for it. I like using protein powders because it saves time and because I get sick of cooking sometimes. Plus I like a liquid meal at times (when I wake up; just lazy in the morning, and after I work out). Again, however, not NEEDED by any means. Especially for new trainees.
