well im sure you guys maybe remember me..after i found out i was going to military school my weight went from 145 back to 151(where i was before i found this site..my navel waist area went from 33.5" to 35"....after being there for 3 weeks i have come home for 3 weeks and i still weigh 151 and still am 35"..so luckily, making sure i dont eat too much at the mess hall and running cross country has helped me from putting back on fat..but i would still like to become fit and get rid of this fat. there is a weight room there that i will start using in octoberwhe the cross country season ends(no time since i get 3 hours of freetime a day and most is taken up by cross country.

what i do at cross country is usually about 2 laps of running around the school which is 1.6 miles then 4 laps around track alternating power walking and running on each lap. i do this 4-5x a week.

as far as eating i cant control what i eat.. they serve typical school food..

chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, mixed veggies, little cakesor cookies, milk, chocolate milk, water, PB and J sandwiches on WHITE bread, fried fish on fridays, pizza, waffles, sausage, pancakes, syrup, cereal such as rice krispies, bananas, apples, spaggeti and meatballs, etc.

thats a list of typical things there are to eat

heres what i have been eating lately

breakfast(7am)- 2 pbj sandwiches and 1 cup of 2% milk

lunch(12:30PM)-1 cup of lettuce and several cucumbers and 2 tablespoons of croutons and one tablespoon of bacon bits, and 2-3 tbsp of honey mustard dressing and water

dinner(6pm)-whatever is being served, an example is:

1-2 cups of canned mixed veggies(potatoes, green beans, peas, carrots)

2-4 cookies

1 cup of milk

1 roll

3/4cup of mashed potatoes

3 breaded chicken on a stick(a hotdog sized amount of chicken that is fried and breaded on a stick like a corndog)

i only drink milk and water. i also drink flavor splash 0 calorie water 1-2 bottles a day..my excersise is cross country plus 5 sets of 20 pushups and ab excersises on alternate nights(pushups one night, crunches the other)

what can i do to my diet to lose fat? perhaps switch certain things out with others or cut down or completley cut out on some of those things..i dont eat anything else except for when i eat at the mess hall..what do i need to do tolose fat..you guys may be able to find pics of me somewhere if u search by i have about 20 % bf!

thanx guys

i dont know man, that is some pretty horrid crap. im really upset to see a MILITARY school suck so friggin hard on the diet portions of their institution. you cant split your meals up which is gonna make it tough.

invest in some powerbars or something, drop the fat out of your diet. anything fried, lay off it. lay off the complex carbs at night, like the roll and cookie- im sure you could make incredible trades for other people's foods with your cookies- for instance- two cookies for some more salad or something. try and trade for good protein sources when you have those at night- nothing fried though. maybe you can get some protein powder for your room and you could use that 3x a day instead of eating the processed and fried crap they've been giving you

Fruit may become your good friend. It sounds like there are very few good carb choices. But stuff like apples, pears, oranges and peaches are all good. Maybe you could stuff a couple apples in your cargo pockets to have in your room for a midnight snack. I'm not sure if they let you bring food to your room like that, but I'm sure the administration would feel really silly disciplining you for hoarding fruit  Powerbars would be another great option. They're not ideal obviously, but you gotta look at the alternatives. Go Lean bars are very filling at around 300 calories.

I was reading Schwarzenegger's book. He was in the Austrian military at some point, and he was facing the same issue. His solution was to carry around a large thermos filled with his protein shake. Maybe you could do that in addition to nutrition bars.

i do have a 5lb tub of whey in my room that i rarely use. icould take a few apples no prob. the only prob would be buying anything like power bars..they would get too expensive parents..the school already costs 17k+...
i was just wondering what i could do with what i eat to lose weght as far as calorie deficit.

for ex., maybe eat only 1 1/2 tbsp of honey mustard dressing on my salad at lunch, and cut half as much bacon bits and croutons. and then maybe only 1-2 cookies at dinner and cut out the roll. and eat as many veggies i want and have no fried meat, and make up for the protein lost by having a protein shake later?

kids are allowed to have food in their room, my roomate is a very buff lifter. he has a 46" chest and 15" biceps  and hes only 15 like me!!

i think that the 2pbj sandiwches and milk for breakfast is good thats probably around 800-850 cals. then the salad at lunch is around 350 cals. then the veggies and 2 cookiues at dinner + 2 protein shakes a day would be 520 cals. thats 1720 cals daily...thats pretty much the maintenice calories for me if i had a lazy life..but i do cross crountry 5x a week so im not sure if thats good...

my plan is to cut down my fat for a few more months and then start hitting the weights HARD withmy roomate and taking the supplements he takes.

dont buy powerbars unless you plan on eating them during/after intense excersize.
they're full of sugar, so not preferred as a normal meal substitute.

just try your best to get as much protein in your meals as possible.
