View Full Version : losing 4 pounds in 24 hours
txitalian Fri, September 9th, 2005, 03:37 PM My boss just approached with a question that quite honestly, I don't have an answer for. His 14 yr old son plays football and was told that he exceeded the maximum weight for the league. In order to play tomorrow, he has to drop 4 lbs.
I could tell him how to do it in a week, but have no clue on how/if this can be done in only 24 hours. For the record, yes I know this is really unhealthy, especially for a 14 yr old, but he seems pretty desperate and he is my boss after all? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

SwoleCat Fri, September 9th, 2005, 03:40 PM I could offer some suggestions, but for a 14 year old boy they would be very un-healthy. Yes, they are "drug free" suggestions, but I still believe the methods are too harsh for someone so young.

txitalian Fri, September 9th, 2005, 03:45 PM Thanks, SC. I just talked to my boss again and he said this happened a while back, but he had to lose 7lbs. He said he fasted and ran his ass off, but he didn't want him to do that again for obvious reasons.
wh0rume Fri, September 9th, 2005, 03:48 PM well, no carbs what-so-ever for 1 day would help.
working up a heavy sweat for 45 minutes, done twice would help.
worth a shot, and its not TOO unhealthy.
or maybe for the entire day eat only fiberous veggies and protein?
would this work?
definatly no carbs for the rest of the day though, unless it's pure fiber.
OHHH thats a good idea!! laxitives!
that'll clean out anything stuck in the pipes, plus the cardio, plus no carbs = not too unhealthy, and i think it'd work!
plus - no breakfast tomorrow.

This is similar to what we used to do when we didn't make weight on the wrestling team when I was in high school. The other thing.... limit drinking. No more than 3~4 8-oz. glasses of water in the next 24 hours, evenly spaced out. A diuretic could help to.
That's too damned unhealthy for a 14 year old. His father should be shot for even suggesting the drop 4-lbs. in a day's time.

michael2938 Fri, September 9th, 2005, 03:56 PM What about a sauna or steam room? I've heard that will make you lose water weight.
Mike
wh0rume Fri, September 9th, 2005, 04:45 PM sure, this is all unhealthy for a 14 year old, but ONE day of this shouldnt effect him negitivly at all. (besides a temporary lack of energy of course)
basically - he EASILY has 4 lbs of waterweight in him right now.
if not - he has at least 1 lb of bowel movement in him that could probably come out :tu:
krosspyder Fri, September 9th, 2005, 04:51 PM man... not sure about 14 yrs ... but its easy for me..a 27yr old.
can loose 5 lbs of water in one day if i want too.
like the other cats said.... hold the carbs.... run like the wind.
jsbrook Fri, September 9th, 2005, 07:16 PM Sounds to me like it's time for the kid to graduate from peewee football.

Seriously, what kind of league is this?

I don't know honestly, but the team he is on went to the national championship game last year, so it's pretty serious I guess.
JPN706 Fri, September 9th, 2005, 08:48 PM Im 15 so I should be able to help with this.
Get him to run with a trash bag over his body, make sure the bag is not tight.... let it be loose and make sure to tuck it into your pants so heat wont escape easily.... and run his butt off in a room that is about 100 degrees or more...
We do it in wrestling all the time and I have lost 6 pounds in about an hour before....

JPN706 Fri, September 9th, 2005, 09:28 PM Ok well an hour and a half - 2 hours...
Im fat though.... thats why I was able to lose so much water weight....
But just try giving that a try.... go contact your local wrestling club or highschool and ask if they have a hot room.... while the teams practicing you can go run and condition with the team.....

Sweat out. Put on some heavy clothes and do aerobics for 30 minutes. Hit a sauna. Dont eat anything significant. Get a laxative
Really none of that is healthy.
It can be done. But it isnt healthy. I lost 4 pounds a day once. Its all water wieght tho. Isnt good for your kidneys. And the second you take a sip of water its back.
I lost my 4 pounds via a weekend of binging and partying. I had no intention of trying. It started on a friday drinking. Saturday I didnt eat anything (i had no appetite) and saturday night I went out and drank a ton of piss causing dehydrating Jaegar bombs. By wednesday I gained it all back plus 2 pounds.

Yes, an enema, or colonic irrigation may shed a couple pounds, even after laxatives. Probably too late now but one for the future. Not exactly sure how you'd go about getting one but I assume you'd have to book an appointment in advance :gl:
doordude42 Sat, September 10th, 2005, 10:06 PM Are all you guys crazy? Enemas? Plastic bags? Laxatives? Damn man, the kid's 14!!!!!!!
PAF Sat, September 10th, 2005, 10:19 PM Lots of healthy benefits of colonic cleansing. You'd be suprised at how much weight you'd lose. Think about it, that stuff staying and decaying in your body isn't good.

No freakin' kidding... the day a parent puts his 14 year old through that... just for a game...

No shit dude. Hey, my kid plays football and believe me, watching him kick ass is one of the most gratifying experiences you can imagine but............ I'll be damned if i'd subject him to any of the aforementioned shit!
Monkey Mon, September 12th, 2005, 12:20 PM I've been chastized recently about how this is a site about being healthy, not thin or weighing less, and then there's a thread like this? I can't believe people are even making suggestions, even if you say "but it's not a good thing to do". Wow.

As an athlete, it's not always possible to do what's truly healthy. There's a fine line between overtraining for example and pushing yourself to your [healthy] limits. But this particular thing is still stupid. It's clearly peewee football, and it's time the kid graduates. He's old enough and big enough. Too bad if he won't be as good in a better league.
