View Full Version : whats your PWO meal like?

on lifting days i have 45 grams of protein blend and 3 bananas (about 90carbs). then about 2 hours later i have a complex carb/protein meal

on strict HIIT days i drink lots of water for 40 minutes, then i have 30 grams of protein blend and 2apples (about 44 carbs)


its been working really well for me so far. i broke my 190 plateau 2 weeks ago and im now down to 183- yeah alot of weight fast, but my strength has gone up according to the weights.

what do you all use for weight days and what do you use for cardio days?

What is the reasoning behind the bananas?

Fructose goes to the liver to be stored, and once the liver is full excess is stored as fat. If your goal is to replinish MUSCLE glycogen after a workout (which it should be) you'd be wise to use something other than fruit.

Weight days: ground oats, 1/2 banana (for taste), gatorade (if I'm spent) otherwise milk, experimenting with rice cereal.

cardio: normal meal...less carbs but whole food no whey.

2 scoops of whey, 5g of creatine and 66g of dextrose. After I started using dex. again, I stopped craving sweets like a mad man.

440 cals/36g protein and 70g of carbs.

PWO Shake is 70g Dextrose:1 scoop Whey (70g carb:23 pro)
My Post PWO meal around 60-90 minutes later is the same ratios, but solid food, like oats and eggs.

The spree are dextrose, so you can use those yes. Gatorade is "okay" but contains other things in it that make it less optimal (can't remember exactly what they are)

It's a decent, cheap alternative, though. With some monocreatine, a couple scoops of unflavored protein powder, 200~400 mg's of ALA and the correct amount of gatorade powder to meet your carb needs PWO, it makes a good tasting, low-priced version of the Cell-Tech product that I've heard many people rave about. I've used such a concoction in the past with very good results.

I can't get hold of Dextrose so I just use 4 table spoons of honey and 4 table spoons of whey which gives me:
Cals 440 Fat 3 Carb 75 Pro 36

Then one hour later, I eat 2 cans of Tuna and 6oz of Whole Wheat Pasta, which gives me:

Cals 770 Fat 6 Carb 96 Pro 83...

I'm bulking though ;)

1 1/2 scoops Nitrean
47g maltodextrin (1/2 cup)
13g dextrose (about 5 tsp.)
5 g creatine monohydrate

it has some b6 and b12 but, its main ingridient is dextrose. the main ingridient for gatorade is fructose something or other
