I am on the fat loss mode, as I need to get rid of the last bit of a small pouch still remaining in my AB. So I am currently doing Empty stomach cardio – 5 miles everyday at 73% of Max heart rate.

Today I ran 10K classic with 9.40 minute a mile and I am planning to run half marathon in Nov. I want to improve my timing and this requires high carb intake and not empty stomach cardio

I am confused between these conflicting needs – Run on empty stomach for fat loss vs. training for Half Marathon

Any thoughts / Suggestions

Thanks

Seth

You'll just need to decide which goal is more important and choose. I have to say that when I ran distance, despite the high carbs keeping the fat off was not a problem.

You should lose plenty of fat on any solid running program. Keep lifting though.

Empty-stomach cardio is not the only type. There are many people on this site who have gotten in to great shape doing cardio at various times of the day. I would choose to do what it takes to get that time down, and in the process you may be surprised that your training does away with the excess fat youre struggling with. :gl:
