157 before i left...173 when i come back (only 9 days!)

well, i assume at least like 5 lbs is water...which would mean only 11 lbs of fat! we shall see what my body does. some might still be food IN my stomach, been a bit constipated...ahh well.

Was about to start that bulk, cept I look like a chubby mess now. Guess I'll wait a week or two. WHen i start to put on the real pounds, there is gonna be some muscle with that fat.

Heh, vacations are notorious for adding a few pounds to the gut. They are supposed to be fun and relaxing after all, and trying to maintain a strict diet while all that rich food is around you would be pretty bleh in my book.

But now you're back, fully relaxed, and probably revving at the engines to get back on track right?!

Holy crap...if you really gained 11 lbs. of fat, that's close to 4300 calories a day over maintenance!!!

I doubt that you gained 11 lbs. of fat, although I suppose you might be able to do it if you tried...

Yeah - no way that's all stored energy reserves. Some of it is- but there's airline food, vacation food, etc. that are all part of this.

I'd take bets on lots of salt being a big contributor.

Weird thing for me - I left for a vacation (9 days) at 202. Ate a few fancy dinners, drank much more than usual, didn't eat very frequently, and came back at 200 even. Lots of beach walks and slow bike rides, I guess.

well i did cardio almost everyday (minus maybe 2 days) and did a 5 hour kayak trip as well...which was utter hell on the triceps, biceps and shoulders (shared the kayak with my 110lbs 5'2'' girlfriend...needless to say i got a good work out!)

this morning i weighed in at 166. So thats 9lbs difference, and waterweight i imagine is still coming off. Its been what, 1 day since i got back, not all the salt can be gone yet. The other thing i mentioned was that i was relaly constipated/gaseous on the trip. That's all coming out now, and i can gaurantee thats contributing to the weight loss lol.

heh

Ahhhhhhh. . . the metamucil diet. FWIW, long travel periods do that to me as well.

Not 11 lbs/fat. More than 5 will be a combo of water and glycogen.

I did shockingly well on my last vacation. I put on about 5 lbs total even though it was 12 days long and I drank every day. I attribute much of the success to a 30 min run every day and I also would keep calories pretty much in check until around 4:00 pm at which point I'd splurge.

I was actaully amazed at how well I fared on vacation. I think that having a lot more muscle mass allowed me to keep my weight more or less constant.

That's a real side benefit of lifting- it lasts even when you can't do it - at least until muscles start to shrink.
