Hi all,

I'm new here and therefore I wish to say Hi to All :) :tu:

I've read some threads on this forum saying that optimum cardio is 45 min, and I agree with that. However, I believe that 20-30 minutes of cardio (or even better, hiit if you can live through it :) ) after the workout (with weights of course) is also effective.

I'd like to hear what you ppl think about it.

Welcome Divukman,

The cardio topic is a fairly common one. Essentially it boils down to it's better to *do* cardio in any form, then to not do it.

There are many different flavours of cardio, but I prefer LISS after my weight sessions, and HIIT on my non-weight days. Anything more intensive then LISS I usually eat some food before hand.

If you can hack a higher intensity after weights and looking to cut, then try it out for a month. If it's not working for you, then try LISS, MISS, or HIIT. Each person has a different rythym and it's up to you to find one that fits you.

I'm no expert, but I don't think it's a very good idea. You need to eat protein and fast acting carbs ASAP after lifting in order to stop the catabolic process, and having cardio on top of lifting and (obviously) before that PWO shake, doesn't seem to be helpful against the cortisol levels. Also, I believe you shouldn't eat carbs after LISS cardio for a good hour at least to get the full effect of the fat burning process -- that's another conflict with lifting nutrition.

Welcome to JSF! Good to have you here.

As to your topic of discussion, there are many, many threads on this. It seems to be a very hot subject. I suggest you search through these forums. See you in about 2 weeks, when you're done reading it all. ;)
