Hello,
My name is Steve and at 36 years old, I have been diagnosed with CAD, coronary artery disease. And as one might understand, this was my wake up call to get back into shape.
I am 6'4" and 240 at the moment. I have actually lost 15 pounds by eating the correct foods, at the right time (5-6 small meals a day) and exercising. I have not yet added the weight training, but it is coming. To look at me you would not think that I was that over weight, but my heart says I am.
I found John's web site nearly a year ago and have looked at it for inspiration, but I never did anything to get going. I hate to say it had to come to a heart problem to get me going. I will be looking to everyone on the forums for advice and inspiration as well, so be prepared for questions!!
While you are reading this, let me take the opportunity to let everyone know that if you are near my age, I guess it doesn't really matter how old you are, I suggest that you have your doctor schedule a stress test for you.
I am a firefighter.......you know.....I am the big tough guy that goes into burning buildings. I look healthy enough, right? Wrong!!
I was sent by my department to do the stress test, a random test mind you, and I was pissed that I had to go waste my time for this thing.
I am very glad I did. 60% blockage in one artery. 10% more and I would not be allowed to keep my job. Time to get in shape!!
John, thanks for this website! I hope to make the progress you have.
