1. Your suppose to drink 2 gallons of water when on a fat loss program. Is it alright to drink the 2 gallons 4 hours before you go to bed?

2. If you weight 152 is it decent to eat 1600 calories a day. 40/40/20 split?

Like anything else, your mileage will vary, but I'd say its better to spread the water evenly through out the day. I seem to drink about a gallon at work, and another half gallon at home. I workout at night, so after my PW shake, i drink a half liter, and then usually don't have any more water until right before I got to bed. At that time, I'm usually getting thirsty and down another half liter. I know it can be tough because with so much water, you are getting up in the middle of the night, interrupting precious sleep. I'd say experiment a little and see how much you can drink without waking up. It took me about 6 months to figure out the way my body best dealt with it.

On your calories, depending on your activity level and your metabolism, it might be okay. I use a 1:10 ratio for myself, but I consider myself to have a pretty slow metabolism. If you are tracking your bf% and LBM, you'll know if you are going too low.

A good idea is to go to www.mybodycomp.com or www.fitday.com to find out your metabolism rates...

I dont think its humanly possible to drink 2 gallons in one sitting. Your stomach doesnt have that capacity.... Spread the water intake out across the entire day, it will help you while you eat, etc.

You shouldn't try to drink all your water at once, just like you wouldn't try to eat all your meals at the same time. And like someone else posted, it's probably not possible.

As for your caloric intake, I'd say between 10 and 12 times your weight is good, depending on what your activity is like. If you've got a really strenous job you'd probably go with a higher number. Every one is different so you have to experiment. For me, 1600 would be too low.

If you're taking in 1600 calories using a 40-40-20 split, that would mean you're getting 160 grams of protein, which sounds about right.

Hope this helps,

I don't this this person was trying to drink it all at once. i think they stop drinking it at that time. I couldn't drink a liter in one sitting. :x

Heh heh. Thanks for the clarification, Matt. Guess I wasn't thinking when I read that.

LOL, haha nah i dont drink 2 gallons in one sitting. I cant even fit half a gallon in my stomach. yesturday, i drank 2 gallons in a 4 hour period. my stomach was big.. felt like i was full from a big feast. im 16 so i still go to school. i dont really drink water in school because i then go to the bathroom too mcuh. but when i get home i drink water. i drink about half a gallon in the morning then when i get home i have about 1.5 gallon left.

i weight 152 so i was thinking about doing it times 10 but it seems to low 1520 for me even tho i dont do much excersise. i'm not sure what to do though. 1520 seems low but if i do 1800 would that be too much?

i've been eating about 150g protein, 180g carb, 20-35g carb

i have a recumbent bike.. i dont know what to do with it so on monday i was on it for 60mins, and on tuesday i only had time to go on it for 45mins.

i need help with a weight training program and what to do. i want to use free weights.

my goals are to gain muscle and lose fat. for my fat loss program which will be 10 weeks i want to get down to 10%-12% bf. I believe i am at 25% or 20% i have the Fat Track Digital Calpiers but everytime I use it I always have a different BF%. it doesnt seem very accurate.

what do you guys do when your out with friends and they go out to eat? or what happens when you go and get a drink? do you just stick with water or do you eat what they eat? or do you bring food? i have trouble sticking with my plan when im out with friends and they eat. what do you do?

If I'm going to be out for more than 3 hours, I take at least my next meal with me (and usually a bottle or two of water). If I go somewhere unscheduled and it's not my cheat day, I will get a salad with as little on it as possible, or try to work it into my diet (say, instead of eating a chicken breast, I will get a chicken caesar salad).

I don't drink anymore, so when drinking is going on I simply refrain. To me, a well-developed physique is more important than a couple of beers. I always get water when I'm at a restaurant. I put away at least half a gallon at any given meal (at a restaurant).

Yeah, losing that much weight is likely attributed to water. I was 166 a day ago, this morning I weighed in at 162. I also drink at least 2 gallons of water a day.

As long as your lifts at least stay on par, no worries.

Nice Journal, Famous. I might steal your idea and make one too ;).

What would be a better split?

40/40/20
50/30/20

protein/carb/fat

Thanks bluemc. I'm glad someone is actually reading the thing (besides me). I was starting to feel pretty silly writing to a non-existent audience. ;)

Anywho, as far as the macronutrient split goes, I wholly recommend a 40/40/20 split. I have had great success with this. Also, with a 50/30/20 split, it's easy to take in a bit too much protein. Remember, you need carbs, just the right type of carbs at the right times.
