View Full Version : Cutting and Hunger
rage60 Thu, March 4th, 2004, 05:27 PM I've been following a cutting routine now for around a month and a half. I've dropped around 10 pounds. However lately I've been getting much hungrier than I used to (from what I recall). I take in roughly 1950 Calories a day. I'm 6'3" tall and weight 179.5 pounds. As far as food is concerned, I eat roughly the same types of things John has and follow his workout days with pyramid style weights and HIIT Cardio. My question is am I not taking in enough calories because I feel so hungry, should I eat more clean foods to get rid of this hunger or maybe I'm just not spreading my meals out well enough?

karatetricker Thu, March 4th, 2004, 05:45 PM Funny you mention this. I was on a 1800 calorie cutting diet for about 5-6 weeks and all of a sudden, this past week I have been starving! I don't know what it's from but this has not been a good week diet wise because so often I was so hungry I couldn't hold out. I'm hoping that by eating a bit more this week will settle me for the next month or so.
TFXP-Zeke01 Thu, March 4th, 2004, 06:03 PM Eat more "fiber" dense foods. Eat low calorie fillers like Jello....the gelatin swells. Drink a couple of glasses of water while preparing food. Chew "sugarless" gum while preparing food to keep from wanting to snack. Stay busy doing something/anything because that keeps the mind off food(watching TV doesn't especially with all the damn unhealthy food advertisments). And if all else fails then go and take a HUGE whiff of the cat liter box when a hunger signal strikes! :D :D If the litter box doesn't destroy the hunger signal then find some other putrid smell that would literally burn your nose hairs out..lmao!!
Good luck!;)

Specialbear Thu, March 4th, 2004, 06:13 PM hmm, ur eating pretty often, what time are ur cravings?? I find that eating some foods, even in large quantities, leads to cravings like 30 min after. Chicken and tuna does this to me.
rage60 Thu, March 4th, 2004, 07:12 PM Generally after lunch and I thought it was recommeneded to eat often to keep your metabilism going full throtle?

Chicken and tuna has given me food cravings before... You could substitute for some turkey and see what happens? Also, I drink a LOT of water when I'm eating tuna as it seems to have a calming effect on the cravings that usually follow...
What about a fiber based suppliment just before hand?
Also, point of note, your metabolism is affected moreso by the way the energy is used rather than just the feeding itself. Eating regular meals helps but burning it off is also another factor in keeping a stable metabolism...
rage60 Thu, March 4th, 2004, 07:51 PM Of course, fiber capsules. Those always fill me up and you can't beat the nutrition facts on them
Thanks,
bv0id Fri, March 5th, 2004, 09:02 AM I'm the same way with chicken....for some strange reason, I am always craving about 15 minutes after I eat a chicken meal. Sometimes worse then before I ate it.
I've found if I up the intensity, durration, or frequency of my cardio, my cravings start to hit me hard. Not sure if you're doing any of these things, or if your routine is unchanged since you started.
I think it's only natural that over time, you find the cravings more challenging, while dieting. Maybe a few higher calorie days, or a cheat meal if you're not cheating, might help a bit.....it may even help with fat loss by boosting leptin levels, etc. :gl:
davey_fl Fri, March 5th, 2004, 09:16 AM you could try substituting some brown rice in there as well. It takes a while to digest and sticks to the ribs...
