View Full Version : Dizzy??
baldridges Thu, March 4th, 2004, 01:58 PM I have stopped losing weight lately, so this week I upped my calorie intake. However, the last couple of days I have become really dizzy right after my 10:30 meal. It only lasts for about 10 minutes, but it is annoying. Does anyone have a clue what this is from? Just want to make sure I'm not about to fall over dead or anything.
Thanks. :spaz:
rage60 Thu, March 4th, 2004, 02:14 PM What are you eating at that meal?
baldridges Thu, March 4th, 2004, 03:08 PM 1 cup of egg beaters with a slice of lean ham
rage60 Thu, March 4th, 2004, 03:15 PM Dosen't sound like anything bad, I would try cutting out the ham and add a banana. See if maybe you can give your body a little extra energy to stop the dizzying effect.
SithLord Thu, March 4th, 2004, 03:52 PM just curious.....did you up your cals or lower? because lowering your calorie intake would have that effect.
baldridges Thu, March 4th, 2004, 04:15 PM I upped them. Maybe my blood sugar is just low or something. Again, not anything I am too worried about, but it only happens that time of day, so it made me curious.

About 1 month ago I switched up my diet, and got rid of the few high glycemic carbs I was consuming (a little pasta, some white rice, etc)
I started to get this effect, along with being really tired sometimes, for no real reason, and barely able to get through workouts, even though I get plenty of sleep. Now about 18 days later, it's better, but I'm still not 100% yet.
I guess my body was so used to running off of all those carbs that it has a tough time now without them.
You may be having similar symtoms...

What is your pre-workout meal? What is your intervals between eatings? Do away with all high glycemic carbs except "post-workout".:) The sleepiness could be still due to something not 100% in your diet, but there is no real way of knowing for sure.
When I started back training again last September 2003, I overtrained pretty bad at about the end of October because my diet SUCKED. I would eat like 3 hours before I lifted and it would sometimes be chilli with cheese and crackers..lol:D Can you blame my body for overtraining after some good workouts? :p I do remember getting extremely tired and yawning during workouts back then and then about ready to pass out after my 45 Min workout.
wolfhalen Fri, March 5th, 2004, 01:15 AM I don't really have a special pre workout meal. Afterwards I have gatorade powder drink (dextrose) and a protein shake a little after that.
My strength hasn't significantly gone up in a long time, but I am cutting right now, so I am eating about 1800 clean calories, w/ 200g protein, I eat every three hours approx. This diet has only been for the last month, before that I just kinda "guessed" and it wasn't working too well. :)
Now I eat 6 food meals a day, not counting any protein shakes, 2 breakfast, 2 lunch, 2 dinner.
P. Shake
Oatmeal
Banana
Plain Tuna Sandwich
Whole wheat bread
Grilled Chicken Breast
Green Beans
Piece of Cod or Mahi Mahi
flax seed capsules
1 gallon of water a day...
baldridges Fri, March 5th, 2004, 12:06 PM Wolfhalen - that is EXACTLY what I am going through. I have majorly cut my carb intake after breakfast. I have a couple slices of sugar free whole wheat bread at lunch, and some whole wheat pretzels with my afternoon snack. I know I am not getting near enough sleep at nights (usually around 5 hours). That is due to my job, and the commute. Because of this, I also don't get in a pre workout meal (I am at the gym at 5 am, not in the mood to get up at 4 just to eat). But I do pig out at breakfast (protein shake w/banana on weight days, shower, 2 cups oatmeal, 2 cups skim milk, coffee).
Now that I think about it, it is probably me changing my diet around again, on top of not enough rest. Oh well, I am going skiing this weekend, and having surgery on my foot next Friday, so it will be interesting to see how that affects my body, and how my workouts are once I return.
Thanks for the help! :tucool:
wolfhalen Fri, March 5th, 2004, 02:00 PM Yep! And I'm already topped out on calories, with all the protein I am consuming, there is no way I can even add any low GI carbs! Oh well, I guess that's what a bulking phase is for...
Another thing I've noticed, is that my muscles have started shaking during some lifts, like leg extensions. Particularly on the eccentric phase of the movement...
