View Full Version : how many fats do you consume everyday? nocuous Sun, August 14th, 2005, 06:14 AM every sunday is my cheat day, im consuming more than hundreds of fats.. is this healthy or not? doordude42 Sun, August 14th, 2005, 07:37 AM every sunday is my cheat day, im consuming more than hundreds of fats.. is this healthy or not? Hundreds of what? Grams, Calories? Gila Monster Sun, August 14th, 2005, 08:02 AM every sunday is my cheat day, im consuming more than hundreds of fats.. is this healthy or not? More than hundreds what? Grams? What is your usual calorie intake? What is your macro split? Also, what's the source of the fat you consume? Is it Animal fat? Hydrogenated fats? Olive oil? If it's the first two then no. If the latest than maybe. Again, it depends on your dayly consumption of food. Assuming you were talking about hundreds of grams, if it fits your macro split and the source is clean, then why not. Though I find it hard to see how hundreds of grams of fat can fit in. If you're interested in health and faster results then perhaps it is best to balance your diet better. If you choose to have cheat meals, enjoy them shamelesly! :) nocuous Sun, August 14th, 2005, 10:36 AM maybe 200+ grams of fats... fats from chocolates etc.. will these ruined my week of dieting? doordude42 Sun, August 14th, 2005, 11:24 AM maybe 200+ grams of fats... fats from chocolates etc.. will these ruined my week of dieting? That's 1800 calories alone! How can you call that dieting? I mean i've heard of cheats but that's ridiculous. Gila Monster Sun, August 14th, 2005, 12:01 PM I agree with doordude, I'd lower the fats intake if I were you. Moderation, in my opinion, is important even in cheat meals. Also, I thik that a cheat meal is better than a cheat day in terms of progress. nocuous Sun, August 14th, 2005, 12:59 PM 1800+ !? i need to have self discipline... -_- dso Sun, August 14th, 2005, 01:11 PM Is fat from meat better than fat from PB and dairy? Gila Monster Sun, August 14th, 2005, 02:24 PM Is fat from meat better than fat from PB and dairy? Animal fat is saturated fat (which is not healthy for you in large amounts), PB seems to be one of the favorable fat sources on this forum. So is flaxseed oil and olive oil. Dairy fat (butter?) is rich in saturated fats and cholesterol, which your body needs but in small amounts. BD231 Sun, August 14th, 2005, 04:44 PM every sunday is my cheat day, im consuming more than hundreds of fats.. is this healthy or not? To loose weight you can't consume more grams of fat on one day than you've lost in one week man, you're just putting it right back and getting nowhere. I know what you're going through as far as wanting to eat all that junk though man trust me, bad habits are always hard to break and sometimes a compromise is needed if you truly feel you can't make character changes yet. Think of it like this. If you want to burn any of the fat you have *ON YOUR BODY NOW*, you *must* do anything in your power to x out the massive cheat's. A weeks worth of work is never worth throwing away in one day man. Substitute the binge food for low carb cereals with lots of fiber/protein(I like Atkins Brand almond, fills you up *FAST*) and use Optimum Nutrition Whey and water as milk. Buy low carb ketchup/bread for sandwich's if you get a sweet tooth. Buy a *SMALL* jar of peanut butter and sugar free jelly. Allow yourself freedom with less destructive foods on your cheat day if you can't get past that mental urge to eat. Take it slow, you need to figure out why you feel the need to eat so much junk in one day before you can truly commit to a new way of life which requires mental reprogramming. Dieting will make you loose weight, lifestyle change will keep you thin. If you can't keep yourself from eating in a self destructive way no amount of dieting will help you with your long term fitness goals. OoOGazOoO Sun, August 14th, 2005, 05:00 PM If it was healthy fats it would be too much maybe, but 200 grams of which most is going to saturate and stay on your body in all reality, is probably too much, even for a cheat day. NJstomp Wed, August 17th, 2005, 02:50 PM Also depends on how you eat the rest of the week. What is your diet like Sunday - Friday? I eat only 30grams of carbs a day and huge amoutns of Fats and protein (Tons of read meats) through out the whole week. Saturday and sunday is my cheat days, I load up on carbs (Oatmeal, Fruits, grains) I have gone from a horrible fat-so to a lean mean lifting machine. If you feen for those fats, maybe a diet like this is more for you? jsbrook Wed, August 17th, 2005, 03:09 PM Is fat from meat better than fat from PB and dairy? No. Well, there's not so much better or worse. PB is mostly unsaturated fat. Unsaturated fat has a lot of health benefits, including a reduction in cholesterol. Most meat is a mix of saturated and monunsaturated fat. Dairy fat tends to be largely saturated. Saturated fat is not all bad. You want some for proper hormone regulation, including testosterone. I like to have 1/3 of my fat be saturated and 2/3s unsaturated. The only really bad fat is trans fat. It is found in processed foods. I seek to avoid it as much as possible. Chris Wed, August 17th, 2005, 04:20 PM How many fats do you consume everyday? every sunday is my cheat day, im consuming more than hundreds of fats.. is this healthy or not? Usually I get around 30-35% of my daily intake from fats, or around 70-80 grams with no more than 10% being saturated... Well obviously ingesting "hundreds of fats" is not healthy  but if it's a one time meal sort of thing, I can't see it completely de-railing your overall progress for the week as long as the rest of the time your diet is in check, again though, maybe you should try to cut it back just a little ;) ... How in the world you're getting over 200+ grams of fat in a day without feeling totally sick and disgusted is beyond me, it would take about 15 Snicker's bars to just reach 200 grams... :spaz: |
