I am currently following quite an extensive fat loss program, very strict diet and 1 hour of very vigerous cardio per day. What I am interested in is how much fat (in body weight) I should look to be shedding every week? Currently I weigh in at 12st.

Thanks in advance,

Danny,

I don't know whar "ST" means. So I ma going to say aim for 2 lbs a week. In the beginning people tend to lose much more then that (it is mostly water loss). However, a few weeks into the program weight los slows down and you should aim for a safe 2 lbs a week. But don't be discouraged if you don't get it. Even a pound a week is good.

st = stone = 14lbs, so he's around 168lb.

It really depends on what your build is and how tall you are, 12 stone for one person is perfect and they'll have great muscle definition, someone pretty small will look podgy unless the weight is made up of muscle.

Lose fat until you look like you want to look, if you want to see your abs and generally have great definition, then keep exercising to lose weight until you can see them, but make sure you're lifting weight as well or you'll lose plenty of muscle too.

I can't imagine you're carrying a massive amount of fat though, I mean 168lb isn't a hell of a lot, but I can only guess, you might be really narrow and have no muscle to speak of, or pretty short and carrying a fair bit of fat; but for my height and build 12st is pretty much perfect.

:gl: "ST" is short for "stone" -- an archaic measurement those wacky Brits use ;)

12 stone is 168lbs ('http://www.google.com/search?q=12+stone+in+pounds&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8').

So to further the conversion, d_samuylin is suggesting that you lose 2 pounds or about .14 stone ('http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=2+pounds+in+stone&btnG=Google+Search') per week. Much more than that and you're losing muscle instead of fat, and you don't want that do you?

Yes, but we Americans stubbornly hold on to the archaic British measurement system of pounds, feet, miles, etc. I wish I could train myself to think metric!

Stubborn is right, only 3%-5% of the world's population uses the Imp. system...guess who that is??? In Canada we are 'officially' metric but most people in various building trades use both systems all of the time...but shhh, don't tell the metric police.
