Hello All, I have decided that I'm gonna start taking creatine while I cut, I was wondering what are the best brands of creatines ? wich one would you recomend me to buy, also, how many grams a day should I take ? , at what time , before the workout or after workout, I dont know much about this supplement so every bit of information is gonna work . I read that I should only take creatine for a short period, lets say 6 weeks , then stop for 6 weeks and then start again, this is just an example , is this true ? , well sorry for all the questions , I hope you guys and gals can help me out :D

Not to be rude but do yourself a favor and do a search on creatine. There are about 10000 threads on the subject.

I did search, and it awnsered me most of my questions , but there are some that are still unclear, like, what brand should I buy, I read that I should take it before workout, but is there another time of the day that I should take it ? , should I take it on my non workout days, and the last thing that is unclear is, for how long should I take it ?

Your best bet is to read Jeremy's article on creatine (http://www.naturalphysiques.com/cms/index.php?itemid=153). I basically follow his plan minus the loading.

Buy creatine with a Creapure label. Manufactured by Degussa in Germany.

All the Whey (a JSF sponsor, see link at the top) carries a Creapure creatine monohydrate. And it's relatively very cheap.

Almost any of the sponsors above sell Creatine...

http://www.bodybuilding.com sells a bunch of different types.

what brand should I buy
Whatever you want. There are many different types. Of the mono varieties I like a micronized creatine personally, non flavored because I'd like to flavor it myself and add my own ingredients.

I read that I should take it before workout, but is there another time of the day that I should take it
Depends on the creatine you're running. CEE might have different instructions on the bottle than monohydrate, for example. If you're splitting your dosages into multiple times per day (I assume you are), then of course you'd be taking it more than just pre-workout. I might do it post if I were you, and maybe in the morning. Read the label.

should I take it on my non workout days
Yes.

and the last thing that is unclear is, for how long should I take it ?
As long as you want. Some people like to take time off after a few months. I am one of those people.

This thread made me buy my first tub of creatine. Just had it in my PWO (which is now 2Xwhey+water+eggbeaters+20g creatine) In that link, Jeremy also mentions about glutamine. Is that as important as creatine :d_confuse

You could just eat alot of red meat.:P

I personally use the GNC brand of Mono Creatine. It worked out pretty well with me. I'm with GTX though in that unflavored is the best way to go.

Thanks FastGTX

I also did some searches and found tennisball (who I think is also quite knowledgeable) condemns glutamine. So I guess its a no-no.

Haha. I think glutamine has its place, esp. in a hospital post-trauma, intravenous setting, but I just haven't found anything to support its use for fitness. Maybe new research is out there that I'm not aware of, but from what I've read, it's a supplement company money maker.

Even the people that swear by it recognize that you need to take 30-50g/day to get the benefits you are probably looking for. You can buy it in bulk, but I wouldn't bother even trying it until you get really serious and big.

I am NOT saying Glutamine is a waste of money. I am not a scientist or a chemist or even a licensed trainer, so I just do not know. But I am saying that I do not use it, and I'm doing pretty good without it. I guess the same thing could be said for just about any supplement though.

I just did not notice any difference in any aspect of my physique, recovery, training, etc. when supplementing with this product and doing so according to label claims. And I've given it a fair try, used it 4 separate times (AST, EAS, AST again, and then another brand of which the name escapes me).

Might have a good point there too, which is why, above, I said "I didn't notice...when using according to label claims." Interesting idea on taking more than recommended. I remember watching Jay Cutler's DVD ("New, Improved, and Beyond") and at every meal he would take a HUGE scoop, put it directly into his mouth from the container, take a big gulp of Crystal Lite iced tea, swish around, swallow. He said something like "I recommend people take it in the morning...and evening...before and after training....at meal times." LOL

SIDENOTE: Jay was using a boat load of CYTOSPORT supplements in that video, when I do believe he was under MuscleTech contract. Weird.

Who know, maybe massive amounts of glutamine work for those using anabolic steriods like Cutler and the rest. But that can become a very expensive supplement for minimal benefit, unless, of course, you are sponsored.
