I've been hooked on fat free ricotta cheese with some splenda and vanilla extract (it has 10g protein, 3g sugar and no fat in a 60 cal/serving). And, it tastes just like canolis. Is this considered a "good" source of protein and are the nutritional values for real? Or, am i eating "junk"?

I'm waiting on an answer to this also Barber. It sounds like a good alternative to me.

What does the ingredient list on the back of the packaging say?

Ricotta Cheese is mostly casein just like cottage cheese. It's a good substitute with a little nicer taste....the lower the moisture content the better it is.

It's protein content isn't as beefy but it's not bad.

Like others said - it's basically drier cottage cheese. I could never stand the texture - but tried it for a while.

Isn't ricotta usually what goes inside of lasanga and ravioli?

Ive been eating ricotta for a while now.

Mix it with tuna and make a nice sandwich with some decent bread. :tu:

Or I make a little lemon creme desert. Made by mixing 100g fat free ricotta cheese with a little sweetener and žtsp each of lemon zest and vanilla extract. Put it in the fridge for a bit. Eat!

I picked some up last night and tried this.. a few tablespoons of ricotta with some Splenda. Very tasty!

However, I ended up getting the full-fat ricotta. :o
