Purchase some FF mayo (doesnt taste so bad) You're right Novabound, I actually prefer FatFree now. :eat: vatechguy Fri, August 5th, 2005, 04:14 PM This is a pretty wildly debated topic. Read up on some past discussions: http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showpost.php?p=120391&postcount=3 http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=12982 http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=10788 The rule of thumb usually applied is no hydrogenated fats (unlikely in Mayo anyway) and as long as it fits in your daily macros - go after it. TheLemonSong Sat, August 6th, 2005, 12:13 PM Mayo isn't an EFA, but the fat generally comes from egg yolks and canola/safflower oils. I generally cook with canola on occasion and I eat the yolk of the egg....so I really don't see the problem w/ mayo. If it fits w/ yer macros, do it up...also I enjoy Miracle Whip and its only like 40 kcals per tablespoon! Also, VATech...seriously dude, please change your avatar..I can hardly read your posts without using my hand to cover the movement. If you made it slower I wouldn't mind (i.e. GravityHomer)..but man does it make it hard to read your posts. vatechguy Sat, August 6th, 2005, 12:41 PM Also, VATech...seriously dude, please change your avatar..I can hardly read your posts without using my hand to cover the movement. Purchase some FF mayo (doesnt taste so bad) What's this about "not a chance" ?? Safeway Real Mayo is absolutely OK for you, heck, a good series of fats to have in your diet. True, its not an EFA found in Fish or Flax, but they it is 90% poly and monounsaturated fats with NO trans fats. IN FACT! It is those "fat free" mayo's that get bad for you, because they toss in all kinds of additives to reduce the cals, but are worse for you. Safeway mayo = canola oil and egg yolks. 10g fat, 1g sat fat. 100 Cals / tbsp. Fits macros, eat it. TheLemonSong Sun, August 7th, 2005, 04:19 PM What's this about "not a chance" ?? If I had to "rank" oils I would rank canola as about the third best for you after flaxseed oil and olive oil...and I eat eggs w/ yolk...this mayo being bad for you idea is just a hanger-on of that myth that came with the low-fat campaign. All of a sudden everyone got scared about things like mayo which are primarily fats, and the myth persists today. |
