Hey all-

I have been working out pretty consistently since my last post about being a bottom heavy hourglass. I decided to abandon the scale for a while and weighed myself for the first time in about a month tonight. We have a Tanita scale which measures BF as well as weight. It says I have lost about 6-7 lbs and 15% BF-a bit dramatic. All I did was drop about 500 cal/day and add more pilates type moves to my usual lift and cardio regime. I want to know if this is possible or if I should invest in a new scale. My clothes are looser so I believe it about the weight loss but the BF is a bit much. I weighed myself today during the evening-around the same time as my last weigh in.

Body Fat Scales are really unpredictable. 6-7lbs sounds great, your clothes are looser, I personally think its great that you've abandoned the scale and replaced it w/ the mirror and clothing as a guide. Bottom line: Don't worry about it! You're certainly on the right track.

I doubt you could have dropped 15% bf, although over the course of a day the scale tends to vary 4-5%... if it went down I'd see it as a good sign, but I would never trust the numbers it gives. For example, when I use male mode it says I have dropped 3% this month. When I use female mode it is always the same. Even though I am testing at same time. Even though the calipers and mirror show a loss of fat. As a female, the laws of physics also apparently differ, as I weigh almost 1 lb more than if I were "male" :p

Body Fat scales are almost useless. It will give you an even wackier reading if you wear socks! Don't see it in a bad way because the best part is that you are still reaping the benefits of your hard work AND you are still able to see it! Keep up the good work!
