View Full Version : Unusual Sweet craving
xcommander45 Tue, August 2nd, 2005, 07:36 AM Hey, hope everyone is in good health today.
I am 18 years old and during all my life i have been gaining weight crazy and eating like a pig till i reached 250 pounds.
I have very broad shoulders thow and look big, and not fat.Exept underneath the shirt.
So these past 3 months i have been on a constant diet and lost 55 pounds.:)
Until yesterday for some reason i just woke up and started eating all the sweets i can get my hands on.? Very weird.I didint any any type of sugar in the 3 month monte period exepet maybe 5 bananas and fat free yogurts.
I hope i do not gain alot of fat because of this.
I do 30 minutes of cardio each day, combined with weightlifting.
I will increase it to 45 just for this week because i have a wedding i have to attend 2 next week and i wanted to stay on 180 pounds.
Any suggestions, appreciated.
Thancks

Maybe a litle more like 105 days.
karatetricker Tue, August 2nd, 2005, 09:48 AM There's nothing wrong with having some junk food here and there. Just know your limits and keep at the gym.
Arby Tue, August 2nd, 2005, 01:43 PM What has your diet been like? Can you give us an overall idea of what you've been eating and how many cals a day?
A lot of people on this site will support the idea that you need to treat yourself every once in awhile to a treat of your choosing...the key is moderation. I mean hell, the patron saint of this site has (before he got into his cutting craze earlier this week) a cheat meal every week.
dodus Tue, August 2nd, 2005, 07:33 PM Sounds like a binge to me. I've done my share, and they're always the result of a diet that's too strict, for example, one that only allows you 5 bananas and some yogurt for three months!
allot yourself a weekly or bi-weekly cookie or junk food session. in time you probably won't need it, but doing something like this anyway prevents the kind of inexplicable but inevitable freak-out/breakdown you just described.
Sweet_16 Tue, August 2nd, 2005, 09:44 PM Okay, so you binged on sweets one day. Move on. Honestly, many of us here have done it, but as soon we do, we try to move on and keep going with our exercise routines and our regular diets.
Other than the bananas and the yogurts, did you restrain yourself from ALL types of sugar during those 3 months? Keeping oneself away from junk foods he/she likes can cause binges to occur. A person can end-up feeling like he/she is totally deprived of the sweet taste that he/she enjoys, and this feeling often leads to a binge.
If this is the reason behind your binge and you would like to stay clear of more binges in the future, a good idea is to allow yourself a "cheat" meal once or twice a week, or even just a "cheat" dessert once or twice a week. This satisfies your cravings and will not leave you feeling deprived!
Also, remember that certain sources of sugar are good for you, such as fruits. One or two fruits a day is necessary to be getting a nutritious diet. Honestly, I tend to lose more fat on weeks when I eat one apple and one pear each day rather than on weeks when I skip having both fruits and just one each day instead.
By the way, great work on the the fat loss! Keep it up! :tucool:

I used to have that too until I started taking 5 Grams of Glutamine a day and since then I have no sugar cravings at all......I keep waiting for one to come but it doesn't.
TheLemonSong Wed, August 3rd, 2005, 06:13 AM I was having this problem a little bit ago...it seems that the sweet foods out there just don't cut it when you're cuttin'! I've found, however, that Fresca seems to balance this problem out for me...it's just so refreshing and because I tend to drink slower than I eat I end up forgetting about the "craving" by the time the drink is finished. It just tastes so damn good, and its just sweet enough for me.
Also, after you lift have you tried dextrose in your protein shakes? I picked that up a long time ago and many of us do it...man does that stuff taste good!! My p-shakes go from zero to hero (yah yah that was cheesy, so what ;)) when I add dextrose and I think its really helped me in PWO time. {Note: dextrose is among the simplest of all sugars..its basically what they make sweettarts and smarties from, and occasionally i'll eat those instead after my workouts}
Hope that helps...
