I was wondering how exactly they determine the calculation for your "lifestyle?" Alot of people here use Fitday. Myself included. The lifestyle calculation is an estimate of caloric expenditure based on information you provided. Navaja Sun, July 31st, 2005, 10:23 PM Anyone else do this? ... I do ... though I'm not sure how accurate it is. I asked a similar queston here: FitDay Question (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=18847) ... I was wondering how exactly they determine the calculation for your "lifestyle?" Right now, looking at the Typical Daily Activity Level in My Metabolism I have 2550 calories burned ... 8hr sleep, 8hr Light Seated Activity and 4hrs each of Light Standing and Light to Moderate Activity .... Maybe that chaged tweaked something? Because it did have me at somewhere near 3500 calories/day. Waht is also confusing is that in the Activity Log, on the Description tab at the bottom the numbers don't add up. I'm putting a lot of trust in the numbers FitDay comes up with, so I'm hoping it's not too far out of whack. Navaja[/QUOTE] I can tell you for sure that their activity/cal. expenditure is out of whack. Savyart Sun, July 31st, 2005, 11:06 PM Don't count your daily activities in the log. Unless you are constantly moving during the day, heavy lifting etc - count yourself as sedentary - and realize that when you add in a workout calculation, it just gives you total general calculations - not based on you. Check out www.caloriesperhour.com for a better calculation of what you spend on exercise. All the rest, your normal day - is figured into your basic metabolic rate. Don't trust fitday for a caloric daily reccomendation at all, just use it to track what you actually eat. jgmx Mon, August 1st, 2005, 02:14 AM Most of the times I use fitday just to keep track of what I'm eating. :D sigakoer Mon, August 1st, 2005, 04:47 AM Fitday is great. Just wish there was a way to express all the food amounts in grams, instead of arbitrary sized "cups" or whatever. I still don't know how large a Fitday "cup" is exactly :( dodus Mon, August 1st, 2005, 11:09 AM Fitday is great. Just wish there was a way to express all the food amounts in grams, instead of arbitrary sized "cups" or whatever. I still don't know how large a Fitday "cup" is exactly :( The "cups" Fitday refers to are a standard US measurement for volume. If I'm not mistaken, however, you've got the option of expressing food in other units. Or, you can try Nutridiary.com, which I've just switched to. It's a little more ritzy, and they use grams (g) as the default. wvpumpkin Mon, August 1st, 2005, 12:43 PM The "cups" Fitday refers to are a standard US measurement for volume.
