simpshawn Sat, July 30th, 2005, 08:23 PM hey, first post here
im 15 and ive got a problem with gyno, my doctor has diagnosed it, not that i needed him too, its very easy to feel the lumps, and my nipples are freakin huge, at least a 1.5 inch diameter, massive and puffy, its frustrating, im overweight 210llbs and 5 11', i used to be 245 but i lost a bunch of weight, and im working out now, etc. ive had this for about 3-4 years i dont really remember when i developed it my doctor said itll prolly go away as i get older and its caz of puberty, but i dont know, im a little concerned about it. and also did i mention i smoke weed? i heard that could cause gyno...my chest has been changing, it feels like the glands are getting smaller when i feel the lumps but they seem to be pointing out more and they kinda sag more, gross eh? so can anyone who has had them then lost them tell me if there any signs that i can look out for to see whether they are going away or not?

benny86 Sat, July 30th, 2005, 08:36 PM Hey. If you're looking for answers about gyne, http://www.gynecomastia.org/cgi-bin/gyne_yabb/YaBB.cgi is where you should go. Lots and lots of people over there know their stuff.. I actually went through it too. At the age of 18 I'd decided that it wasn't going away with puberty so I got the op. :o

15 is still young it very well could go away or get much better. All you can do for that is wait it out. You are still over weight though, so your best bet is to lower your body fat percentage through diet, weight training and cardio.
The marijuana thing is a myth.

Are you sure? I haven't seen any studies indicating that there's no link.
simpshawn Sat, July 30th, 2005, 09:44 PM hey thanks everyone
ye im 209 now, i was 245 some months ago, im working out 6 times a week, 5 times with weights and cardio, and once with just heavy cardio, the lumps feel smaller but they dont look any different really, its just frustrating wondering how your going to hide them everyday, ahh. and i really hope that the marijuana thing is a myth...lol

Please show me a study that indicates there is a link. It's an old-wives tale.

I dunno about that. A quick google brought up several pages from pharmacological studies showing at least mild links to weed and gyno, at the least showing contradictory studies.
But beyond that, weed has no place in a healthy lifestyle. Among the negatives: cannabis has been shown to reduce muscle strength while increasing appetite. Studies also showed that food intake is significantly increased and often is uncontrollable.
yogro Sun, July 31st, 2005, 10:04 AM firstly welcome to the forums, with regards to gyno/fat loss and weed, links or no links i don't think weed is going to help any transformation, which i assume is what you are here for!!
i don't mean to sound so blunt or to sound condescending but that's just the honest truth!!
take care ~yossel

I'm not saying there IS a link though. I'm just saying I wasn't aware it'd been conclusively disproved.
simpshawn Sun, July 31st, 2005, 09:20 PM true that weed doesnt have a place in a healthy lifestyle, but its a luxury item, take everything in moderation right?
anywoot, anyone at all know of any symtoms of gyno going away???
Swim Sun, July 31st, 2005, 09:56 PM I have gyno and i have the sergury scheduled for september 14th so hopefully that will fix it. wish me luck!!
Robertohas Mon, August 1st, 2005, 12:38 PM I have it too I believe. I haven't been diagnosed or anything but my dad had it so I'm sure I got it. I plan on losing all of my fat first, I have lost about 60 pounds now. I have noticed a little reduction but I won't really say anything until I lose it all. It I don't like they way they look if I lose all this weight then there's nothing left but surgery. I don't want the scars though...I dunno.
Stephen Hawking Mon, August 1st, 2005, 08:02 PM I thought the weed ==> gyno thing was just government propaganda. Hort, can you link those studies? I'm googling some phrases and they're not bringing useful results.
jonnycashman Mon, August 1st, 2005, 08:21 PM Here's my take on the weed/gyno thing. Smoking weed tends to make you fat and lazy, (I know from experience). Some men gain a lot of weight in their chest which causes their pecs to turn into man-boobs. This is not gyno. If you're serious about getting into good physical condition, you're going to have to at the very least cut back on the amount you smoke and control your munchie cravings. If after you've lost the weight you need to lose and still have the large puffy nipples, see a doctor.
simpshawn Tue, August 2nd, 2005, 01:46 PM yea, ive cut back on the weed...and ive managed to get motivated enough to go to the gym 6 times a week :tucool:
hopefully itll go away, i dont even care about the puffy nipples, all i really care about is the size of them its ridiculous and embarrasssing as well as frustrating
Tiny Tue, August 2nd, 2005, 09:40 PM smoking weed does not make you fat and lazy. The correlation between weed and gyno is based on the increased estrogen levels associated with large useage of quality weed. Its something that you have to do regularily and over time for it to impact. Gyno has also been shown to be caused by a result of various other medications, certain diseases, alcoholism etc.
simpshawn Wed, August 10th, 2005, 09:55 PM does anyone know any symptons/signs of gynecomastia going away during puberty?
Lost Thu, August 11th, 2005, 12:04 AM does anyone know any symptons/signs of gynecomastia going away during puberty?
you will see the symptoms of gyno become less obvious :p
really.. you just have to wait and see. even with the doctor diagnosis, sometimes it will go away will weight loss too (misdiagnosis type situation).
i have SOME concern i could have gyno, in my pics it cant be seen too much but sometimes it seems like i might. but, i am going to continue losing weight, and see how i am when i hit a good point of weight loss. if the symptoms are gone, good. if theyre not, ill worry about surgery or other options then. i want to eliminate all the factors i have control of first.

Let us know how it turns out.
Good Luck!
Kyles Thu, August 11th, 2005, 02:57 AM I'm a girl so I don't have it (just so you know :D ) My boyfriend of 5 years (now ex) had it. At age 23 he decided to have the operation, and never looked back, he has a lot more confidence now.
It can be just a symptom of puberty, but it can indicate an underlying reason. If your doc hasn't done so, you should ask for bloods to be done to rule out a hormonal cause.
There's lots of information and support out there, just don't believe everything you read. :gl:
Klxnt Thu, August 11th, 2005, 03:59 AM I used to lurk on these boards. 229 pounds. Asking people about man boobie surgery. I've googled it thousands of times. "Loosing weight doesn't make it go away!"
True.
But if you're 211 you have a lot to loose. I'm now 175ish, and only the real Gyno is left. The reason they look like boobs is the fat under it, and the layer of gyno just makes it that much bigger.
Before surgery, major weight loss would be your best choice. I lost all but the gyno itself, now l can wear a shirt and you can't see it. You're "boobage" will decrease be at least half.
Great Dane Thu, August 11th, 2005, 04:27 AM Man, I wish that stuff went away after puberty, but I seriously doubt it does. I'm 21 and I've still got it. I just learned to live with it. It does help though to loose a lot of bodyfat and to develop your chest. I can't even get surgery for mine. My body scars and develops stretch marks like no other. Any surgery I get would leave some extremely noticeable marks. Just remember that you are not the only guy in the world that has it. It is quite a common problem.

Different surgeons do it different ways. We went to see one who wanted to do a big envelope cut, open up the area and scrape the tissue out. I am no doctor but it sounded wrong to me.
So we got a second opinion from a specialist breast surgeon, she did a slim cut around the nipple and then put drainage holes in. My boyfriend was left with no scarring hardly at all, except around the nipple area, which wasn't noticeble at all.
Gynocamastia can happen for a number of reasons, in my boyfriends case it was due to Klinefelter syndrome and wasn't going to go away, sometimes it's just a normal part of puberty and will disappear of its own accord.
Robertohas Thu, August 11th, 2005, 09:43 PM I've never seen a pic of a guy who is muscular with gyno. I want to see a pic like this to see what it would look like even if you were very low on bodyfat. I'm very worried about mine, as long as my stomach isn't very big and my chest is just a little big then I'm okay
