I eat Natty PB with celery, cuz celery sucks without it. Anyhow, I know people say that natty PB has good fat. If I am trying to stay under 20 g of fat a day (well, 30 tops), how should I count the PB fat? Just like regular fat? Sorry if thats a stupid question, but thats alot of fat for such a small amount of food. Thanks,

You've got to count it as regular fat yes. If you're only having 20g of fat per day yit sounds like you're most likely on a 10% of your diet fat plan.. you can't afford much to be saturated. Make sure nearly all your fat is coming from sources like olive oil, natural peanut butter, fish, or nuts.

Essential Fatty Acids are important.

Thanks. SO let's say I eat a a tbsp of natty pb and it is 16 g of fat. would it be ok to eat 30g of protein that day since most of the pg is good fat? Sorry, but I gotta eat something with that celery, haha.

20 g of fat in a day sounds almost impossible to accomplish while still getting enough protein (and still enjoying your food!). Check John's diet, he eats more than 50g most days.

How did you pick 20 g?

Well, when I was 17 I lost about 60 lbs and 20 was my guideline. At the time I was using Slim Fast, and 20 was the guideline for that, so I just started the deadline again. I lost about 65 lbs doing that, then came to college and gained about 25 or 30 of it back.

I usually get around 20-30g fat a day and still EASILY manage over 190/200g protein per day. The 2 are unrelated.

I prefer to go higher fat and lower carb.. Works better for me metabolically and appetite-wise.

I eat as much as 100g fat/day with a large portion of it being healthy fats. I eat natty pb in my protein shakes and on low carb bread.. Natty pb rulez!

100 g of FAT a day?!?! That CAN'T be healthy!

ugh, dont get me started.....

read up on ketogenic/low carb diets and their effect on lipids and insulin.

then you'll understand.

low fat being healthy is a myth!

Check my transformation pics. My blood lipids and cholesterol are low and my resting heart rate is 57. My blood pressure is below normal. So tell me again how eating a large amount of healthy fat is bad?

Yea, I was on Keto, but It didnt do much for me. I loved the food, but it seemed to maek me bulk more than anything. Everyone has their own preference, I think this 20-30g of fat a day is better for me. Thanks for all the replies, keep 'em comin.

I agree, more fat does not mean you will gain weight necessarily. I don't do anything near 100g of fat a day, but 20 sure is low. Slim fast guidelines are not something I would necessarily take seriously. The Slim fast plan is not balanced, and is not "clean." I take in around 40 - 50g of fat a day. I include either natty pb or almonds, as well as olive oil in my diet daily, and that is usually what gets my fat grams up. If you are eating 50g of fat a day in burgers and pizza, you will get fat, but as long as it's "good" fat I think it is ok to go up a little higher.
