the past month or so hasnt had much of a scale move but ive seen some positive body changes none the less, and ive seen others sometimes share the same experience.

is it actually for real? i know if you were perfectly dialed in, for the short term, you could theoretically drop bf% while gaining a little bit of muscle mass, especially early on. that said, does it really happen all that often? i think mentally i may be using that as justification to ignore the fact that i may have been in a plateau.

i just kind of question it greatly that any decent progress can be had without the scale moving much, regardless of how often we are all told "ignore the scale". mainly because when cutting its very hard to not sacrifice some muscle in the process, i dont get how you could possible lose some fat while putting on muscle in a cut.

anyways ive just went on about nothing there, kind of ranting, i hope some of that makes sense.

edit: also i am doing a CKD (cyclical ketogenic diet) at the moment.. and it seems a lot of people on that report little to no scale weight change while their body composition still experiences a lot of change, so im not sure if thats a factor.

Of course it's real. How could you trust your eyes less than a scale? Positive changes in your appearance are obviously much more meaningful than the number on the scale.

i agree, positive changes in appearance are tons more meaningful than a scale number, ive always been one to dismiss the scale number in favour of physical changes. that said, i kind of dont trust myself to be free of bias. i mean, the changes can be so subtle, especially since you see yourself everyday. so if i am really desperate for progress, maybe ill "see" progress but obviously thats just what i want to see, you know?

ive tried comparing with pics and its hard to tell, again because the changes are quite subtle, kind of looks like ive just been maintaining. i think im just kind of frustrated at the moment, ranting more than anything else.

It's absolutely real. My eyes, calipers and tape measure contradict the scale. I don't care how much I weigh as long as I feel and look good. Thankfully people have always underestimated my weight by at least 20 lbs ;)

It's very possible :tu: but it also pisses me off  i hate it when the scale doesn't move ......some say it's a good thing for your body to change but scale stay the same but i think it annoying as all hell, like the scale is still telling me i weight 180.6 and calipers say 10% bf but my forearms grew half an in and bicep a quarter of an inch but that dam scale still reads out 180.6 and even worse on same days 180.8 :d_eek: lol :D anyway go by what you see and feel not by the scale

you REALLY need to stop obsessing man... are you REALLY freaking out over a .2 lb difference in weight??????? step away from the scale... actually... put the scale in the trash, or the attic and forget you have it... take pictures... measure body fat... and quit freaking out over a stupid number

now.. I know that I have also let the scale dictate my mood before (some what recently too) however I have quit stepping on the scale all together... last year at this time I weighed EXACTLY the same amount that I do know... BUT I was at 34% body fat last year... this year it's right around 22-25%... and I have a LOT more muscle... I've changed what that weight consists of and in doing that... how I look has changed drastically... take pictures
