I like them in salad. They are a little bitter so I mix them with some romaine. I like them southern style, stewed with Ham, Onions, Tabasco, salt and pepper Here (http://southernfood.about.com/od/recipes_southern/r/blbb614.htm) is an easy recipe Arwes Wed, July 27th, 2005, 10:27 AM I like them southern style, stewed with Ham, Onions, Tabasco, salt and pepper Here (http://southernfood.about.com/od/recipes_southern/r/blbb614.htm) is an easy recipe I couldn't imagine eating mustard greens any other way. Carrie35 Wed, July 27th, 2005, 11:17 AM I couldn't imagine eating mustard greens any other way. Those northern folks and Californians don't know what they are missing! Southern Greens, Black eyed Peas, Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Gravy, Green Beens stewed with Bacon! YUM! Of course I haven't eaten a Chicken Fried steak in years :( I just can't see how fatty beef, dredged in egg and flour, deep fried, covered in Cream Gravy, served with Mashed Potates and served with soft white rolls could fit in even a cheat meal! :spaz: JK2005 Wed, July 27th, 2005, 11:28 AM You can boil them with onions, add some spices and blend it in a blender to get a paste to the consistence you like. Have it with brown rice/pita. Makes a nice meal! Damn, I've been trying to find mustard greens in my grocery stores but can't find it man :( Do you get them fresh or frozen? Carrie35 Wed, July 27th, 2005, 12:08 PM Damn, I've been trying to find mustard greens in my grocery stores but can't find it man :( Do you get them fresh or frozen? We have them in a bag (like bagged lettuce) at HEB (www.heb.com). There is a good recipe on the back of the bag as well. I am sure Whole Foods (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/products/produce/leafygreens.html#mustard) would have them (if there is one in your area) PhillyGirl Wed, July 27th, 2005, 03:56 PM If you plan to cook them frozen is as good as fresh. I buy frozen greens. Collard greens, mustard greens, kale are all cooked the same way. I cook until tender in chicken broth with salt, pepper, garlic (fresh), red pepper seeds. |
